Let's be honest, he ain't Brad Pitt or George Clooney. That he pulled one teammates wife is a one off really, that he'd be dumb enough to try it again OR that married women seemingly couldn't control themselves around Brett Ferres if he came sniffing by the way some are indicating is ridiculous.

| I reckon Ferres will be grateful to whoever employs him (I doubt it'll be us btw). I'm guessing he'd be among the least likely to make a play for another player's wife in future, given he'll have had a pretty rough time of things lately. Should he be given a second chance? Guess that depends on your outlook on life.
This is getting a bit stale now, I'll leave it here.

| the one name that springs to mind here (albeit a different sport) is Eric Cantona. Good player at Leeds, but messed about with a players other half and was shipped out. The rest is history.

Yep, and how that all conquering Manchester United team then slipped away with a broken dressing room, all because they signed Cantona. No really...

I suppose you can't be too careful. Van Halen ended up with Sammy Hagar.

| Ferres transfer listed by Huddersfield.
No idea what their asking price is, but I'd certainly expect Warrington and Salford to be interested.

I never once said cheating was funny, but I think some people are assigning personal experience and emotion to their views on signing Ferres.

| 50k asking price. Leeds, Salford and Hull FC all have offers on the table. Also, 50k is the amount Leeds offered FC for Westerman.

Definitely prefer ferres than westerman, but if it comes to a bidding war Salford will win, it all depends whether ferres wants to move to another level at Leeds or just take the money.

Like being able to pick up a Ferrari and a Ford Cortina for the same price.

| Honestly can't see why we wouldn't take a punt. JJB is done, I reckon, but his presence and voice is vital for 2016. Ward has a serious injury and should be given as long as possible to recover. Delaney is covered in more bandages than a mummy, and Ablett cannot continue playing 35 games a season. There is no "real" reason why we shouldn't pay 50k for Ferres.

| For that price we should definitely go for him. Salford will throw more wages his way probably but we not only offer the chance of trophies (he could win a WCC within 3 games of joining us for a start) but you'd feel he'd hurt his International chances moving to Salford and playing in a team struggling to avoid the bottom 4.

| It's obvious all three teams could manage 50k to sign him.
The deal braker will be what Ferres can get out of it.
Does he go somehwere to try and win trophies or does he go somewhere for the money and say this team are going places?
Having said that the Hull pack looks pretty good this year.
They would be pretty pleased with themselves getting Ferres to replace Westerman and still have another £100 k in their pockets.

| Ferres has realistically 4/5 years tops left at the top of the game.In that time neither Hull or Salford are likely to seriously challenge for honours. They offer nothing on we do outside cash not to mention we are on his doorstep. If im Ferres and i find out Leeds are in for me after what has gone down i sign whatever GH puts infront of my face and thank the lord.

| Just what I would add to the pack. With JJB out for a while and at the very end of a fantastic career, Delaney really showing the wear and tear, Ward recovering from knee reconstruction and Achurch crap, it's a no brainier.

| Ferres is already on top money, so it isn't a question of chasing the money. I would guess wherever he goes he will have to take a cut on current earnings.
He would certainly be an improvement to the squad for us, in an area we need. Would have rather had Westerman for all round cover, but that went, band not often you get other opportunities to make improvements so easily.

| I read Willie Mason can't get a gig down under - a big, non nonsense second rower that we could pick up for next to nothing - worth a punt?
.... joking.

| It's very simple.
If he wants to come to get his head down, win things and play in a good side - he'll join us.
If he wants to chase the dollar - he'll go to Salford.
If he wants to chase a little less dollar but to be able to say how 'promising' a side are (a la Ellis,et al) he'll go to the KFC

| Ferres is under contract at Giants until 2019. Let's take a punt and say he is on £120k a year. So Giants have a £480k liability and if they can't/won't play him an asset worth zero. On that basis be surprised if the sleeve will jump in and offer £50k because you are effectively offering £530k to Giants to get them out of a hole. Ferres is unlikely to accept a move on less coin so scope for negotiation if we are in which I reckon is a big if. If sleeve interested reckon we would go for 1 year loan paying chunk of his wages up to cap ( if any spare) with Giants paying the rest . Then if he goes well and jjb and achurch off cap next year - we could take him and pay full salary. at present Hudds in very weak negotiating position and all know it. Nobody will offer£50k in a rush. I' m still not convinced Leeds will want the attention that would come although agree with others re. Injuries and wear and tear to 2nd rows in current squad.

Anywhere with space on their cap will happily pay £50k to get hold of Ferres. He's one of the best second rowers in the competition.
If Leeds aren't prepared to pay it, someone will and he'll go there instead. Ridiculous to miss out for what is such a tiny fee in the grand scheme of things.

| Would the Giants be interested in a player swap with Ferres going leaving them a man light? Achurch springs to mind.
