A good winger altogether for both Gateshead and Hull with the CC semi at Huddersfield springing to mind particularly. Seven tries V Leeds (4 in 3 matches for Gateshead and the hat trick in the semi final for Hull) over two seasons was a good effort. Those four games were the only ones he ever started V Leeds so to pick up seven tries was outstanding.

Wasn't that an era when scoring against Leeds was almost expected of you as an opposition winger - see also Darren Albert?

IIRC Daylight was a R/H winger so he only had Cummins to usher him.

Darren Albert 'only' seven tries in fourteen starts (V Leeds) over his four seasons at St Helens. Thank gawd he didn't possess Matt Daylight's strike rate.

Hull had a couple of cracking wingers in that 2000 semi final with Daylight and Carney up against Cummins and Rivett.

Daylight played both wings (and scored from both) V Leeds.

In 1999 at Gateshead he played on the left in all three games (scoring four tries) who had Ian Herron on the right.

In his one game for Hull V Leeds in the semi he was on the right for his hat-trick.

Stats are all very well. More should be made of just how good a name Matt Daylight is. Straight out of the movies, but is he a maverick cop, a private Eye or a dare-devil pilot?

According to the 1st post, these guys contracts were due to expire this season but am I right in thinking it's just Gibson and Worrall not sorted now?
