| Warrington deserved to win tonight but we are in May. I think it would be a foolish man to decide now who the best team this year will be.

| Childs is not my favourite ref, but you can't blame him for the attitude of some of our players when a call goes against them. Giving away a daft penalty, then gobbing off simply compounds the original brain fart, and puts the entire team on the back foot.
How hard is it to zip it and swear under your breath?

When things aren't going your way, what do you expect?
Still a couple of decisions that could've gone your way, did, but not to blame the ref, reminded me of Leeds Rhinos after round 3!

| Those camouflage shirts that the Wire wore were very good. None of the Leeds players could spot them to tackle em !!!

From my reckoning, the penalty count will be more or less even so there's no room for any Leeds fan to whinge.
My one criticism was that he let far too much go without further punishment. A lot of the penalties were for infringements at the PTB. A hell of a lot of them were in fact. The amount of penalties he gave suggests that in his opinion, penalties were repeatedly being conceded for the same offences. He should have gone to his pocket and clamped down on them harder in my opinion. That way, I'd guess we wouldn't have a 'The James Child Show' thread tonight. There shouldn't be that many penalties is a pro game of RL, and if there is, there should at least be a sin-binning to show that the ref has tried to clamp down on the infringements harder.

| As a neutral I thought Childs had a reasonable game ... if Leeds persist with petulant tactics expect more punishment from future ref's.
42 - 6 is a reflection on your teams performance (and Warringtons) not the ref

| From my view in the North Stand, Child had a pretty decent game, he certainly made less mistakes than most of the Leeds players. If you had to level any criticism at him it's that he could have got the yellow card out to show that the offences had to stop, but he didn't.
Warrington were very good, Child was good and Leeds were poor.

| Indiscipline killed any slim chances Leeds had - this has been an issue with this group of players since Smith was in charge - it will not change until the squad changes.

| I thought he got everything spot on in the first 15 mins including the hall and Ali knock ons which despite being blatant and repeatedly shown in slow motion were too difficult for the majority of the ss to understand. I then thought he got a but whistle happy and that we didn't really get the rub of the green. The strip on smith was as poor a decision as I've seen in a long time. They needed no help to beat us and I thought they got more in their favour than we did. There was a point in the 2nd half where he gave us a scrum on halfway where no one had a clue what had been given! He's still the worst ref in SL IMO based on the year as a whole

| As I said on the VT, he had an excellent game. Leeds tried their luck when things were going against them and he wasn't having any of it. The Sound Stand tried to pressure him and he stuck to his guns.
I even think the Lee Smith "strip" was a fair call. Smith was inches from the line where else are Hodgsons hands supposed to be? Lee Smith then tries to pull the ball back in a rush, moving off the mark and losing it.
Leeds were always going to have their backs against it so having a ref that wasn't going allow himself to be pressured wasn't going to help them, a tad unlucky in a way.

while i agree leed sgot battered and were 2nd best by far your attempt to justify that decision is even worse than leeds' performance. if touch judge/ref cant see as blatant a penalty as that why do we even bother paying them?

| I thought he got a lot of decisions spot on but......
tens were poor and the ruck was shoddy for BOTH sides.
Fair play to the Wolfs, full value for the points.

| Dont know what it is with child but games were he refs just seem out of control. I agree he got a lot right but they seem pedantic pens, he penalises the small stuff the lets a blatant head high or choke tackle go. He seems to frustrate players and fans alike.
I know if child is the ref the game will be spoilled. Wire were miles better tonight and he never influenced the result, if it was another ref they may have won by more but he did influence the manner and mood of the game which is not right, id love him to ref NRL and see how long hed last.

Spot on - he had no effect on the result tonight but he just seems unable to control a game or referee with any consistency...then at the same time he struts around like he's the star of the show!

| The jjb penalty for dissent second half should also have been a penalty to Leeds for a grapple tackle. They took 2 points and I think made it 20-6 and from then on it was never going to happen for Leeds.
Jjb shouldn't have gobbed off but he shouldn't have been put into a position where his frustration boiled over.
The Lee smith one first half was also a blatant ball steal by hodgson who had his hands all over the ball and virtually pulled smith forward whilst he was stepping back to behind the line.
Other than that not too much to complain about, small things like we should have had a penalty early doors for taking Lee smith out in the air (myler) which went ignored. Whilst it wasn't a tackle by myler he ran into smith who was in the air.
Would it have changed the result? Probably not as Warrington were very good for about 70minutes, last 10 of the first half we were winning the arm wrestle and had territory then the smith penalty and Bailey heading the ball away happened :/

| After a performance like that anyone concentrating on the ref's performance needs to get some perspective. He made a couple of decisions I disagreed with, so what? Big deal. He struts around, what does that mean? He is a slight man & needs to show some assertiveness as every ref does. 20 years ago no-one at all would have even discussed the ref following such a rugby lesson.

From my view is the SS, he called held at the same time as the player offloaded. Slight refereeing error but it happens. Correct way to restart is with a scrum to attacking team.

| Good call ross,Some of these refs need to take a leaf out of the great bill harrigans book,on all aspects of rules and be more in control of the game!
To be fair to warrington, this sort of luck has been due for 10 years as week in week out we have found ourselves being the ones that have been getting robbed.
Nice to see other teams getting a share of the bad luck just like we have had in the past years.

Correct, although Leeds weren't the attacking team, they were simply the team in possession.
When the ball is offloaded simultaneous to the call of held, the team with territorial advantage should get the head and feed.
We were lucky Child got it wrong and I suspect that Cummings will have a word in his ear.

That was frustrating, it was clear to see that JJB had recieved some "roughing up" in the tackle yet Child wasn't even looking at the tackle or the PTB, he just saw JJB giving the verbals

| The problem for Leeds last night was not the ref, but the team itself. The ref didn't drop the ball of gob off did he. McDermott needs to start getting a grip on his team.
