| As the talk about moving Magic weekend to Newcastle in 2011 is coming on, where would you like to see the weekend moved to.
I wouldnt mind Newcastle because the ground is nice and would fit the bill for fans imo.
based on attendances from yesterday, they could move it too the city of manchester stadium, and have a ground that actually looks full, and right next to the town centre.
I wouldnt mind going to Anfield either, good town centre, and not hard for all fans to get.
would like a return to Cardiff however.
What about you?

You would get fans just going for their game not for the whole weekend, you wouldn't get the same atmosphere in the local bars over the course of the weekend. I know if it was at either of those ground I would simply drive up watch our game then come home which undoes a lot of the idea of the weekend imo. And if locals there are interested in the sport they already have enough chances to go to games.
Personally I would love to see it back at Cardiff but doubt that would happen. Dublin has been mentioned in the past and that would be great although a logistical nightmare to get the fans over there a lot of extra planes/ferries would be needed.

| yep totally agree, needs to be a city where we can promote rugby league and get as many people as possible to come and watch, like Cardiff, Newcastle, Edinburgh

| Back in 2006 when I did Travel and tourism at Park Lane college we had to do a display on a holiday destination as part of a unit. Whilst everyone else (boring) choose places like Majorca and Egypt. I went for a more ambitious little place called Kookynie in Australia.
Anyways here’s my display -
As you can see I’ve got a homemade didgeridoo in my hand. You will also see a CD player on the table where I blasted out Rolf Harris’s didgeridoo song on repeat all afternoon. Unfortunately whilst everyone found it easy to get a brochure for they place I had to make my own -
I don’t think I sold the place to anyone that day but still I got a distinction. Hopefully I can sell the place to RFL and fans of rugby league so we can all have a magic weekend here. All we need now is a stadium built.
The lucky ones can sleep in the Kookynie Grand Hotel -
Whilst the rest of us will have to play hi di hi di hi di ho and camp it out. Come on it’ll be a blast!

| Newcastle would be a fantastic location IMO. Having worked their many times it ticks all the boxes.
1) Stadium bang in the centre of the city
2) Plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants close by
3) Tons of cheap (ish) city centre hotels (although not as many as Edinburgh)
4) Commutable from Yorkshire/Lancashire
Gets my vote.

| In the bin - simply a waste of time and money. Stick to a fixture list of 26 games and forget travelling half way around Scotland and Wales.

| I dont see how Newcastle can happen though... why would Newcastle put there pitch in jepody when it could a business part of the season for them if they get relegated... with the play offs and that.

I go because I enjoy watching RL but I believe the accomodation and travelling costs make the long journey questionable in the long run.

And Adam, I would imagine to move it to somewhere like Newcastle they would have to move it to a different point in the season so as not to clash with the football.

| I look at the Magic in two ways.
First, it's a great way to take the game to new areas, but given that Scotland sustains only two pro rugby union teams I doubt that a league team would ever be viable.
Second, it undermines the league programme even further. When a ludicrous eight out of 14 teams qualify for the play-offfs, the regular season is all but meaningless for many clubs. Tacking on an extra fixture only makes this worse.

Cash - large bundles of cash – Murryfield must have made a fortune this weekend on lager sales alone not to mention the overpriced food stalls.

| Newcastle would struggle to provide sufficient accomodation over a bank holiday weekend. It caters for the stag and hen market and weekend accomodation is very difficult to secure. To play on a football pitch (aside from a national stadium)would mean moving the weekend to the bank holiday at the end of may to avoid clashing with end of season or playoff games.

We managed to book a ty little hotel right on Dean St last year for a stag weekend with no problems, and of course there are plenty of hotels out of town but within a Metro or taxi ride - I'd be happy to give anyone a review of any hotel in Whitley Bay, I've stayed in them all, unfortunately most of the ones that I stayed in are now closed, [url=http://jerrychicken.wordpress.com/2009/04/21/the-one-where-he-sets-fire-to-his-guest-house/I even set fire to one of them once[/url, but there you are...

the quayside is deathly quiet now. Most people tend to go along collingwood street or the light. Whitley bay is now a chavvy dump and staying there is a fair distance from newcastle CC although teh metro helps. Anyway I want a weekend away not a bus trip into the toon!

I'll tell you how bad Whitley Bay is now - we stayed with the in-laws over xmas and for a laugh one day I drove myself to Blyth to see if it was still , the answer was [url=http://jerrychicken.wordpress.com/2009/01/16/return-to-blyth-third-class/its still very [/url, but I parked the car and walked around Blyth, just to see first hand how it is - then I drove to Whitley Bay and drove through it, I didn't stop the car, not even for red lights, thats how bad it is, its worse than Blyth and never in my lifetime did I ever think I'd say that about any town.

| Whitley bay went down the lowest common denominator ( as has the Bigg Market) many years ago and nopw anyone with any sense wouldnt go anywhere near it. as a weekend destination newcastle will get nowhere near edinburgh.

| Birmingham for me, where Wembeley should be. The stadium size needs to be reduced so somewhere like Villa Park would be good. It has held international football matches in the past. Not overly far for people to travel. Never been myself but i would like it held around there.
