I'm guessing if not for injuries we would have 2, probably 3 in there. A poor season and poor luck combined.

Other than Watkins I don’t know how. But how bad has this game really become, that a player as sh2t3 as Reece Lynn can get into an international squad. How embarrassing.

Ryan Hall would be in the starting England side without a doubt if he was fit

He isn’t a Leeds player anymore. Although I don’t think he should be ahead of the others anyway.

Irrespective of the actual cut off point of Ryan Hall's contract at Leeds (supposed to be in November?) do you not thing that he would have been an automatic starter for England v Kiwis if he had been fit?
Because I certainly do
If not who would "these other's" be as his replacement against the Kiwis if you picked the side?

Oh I do think he would be picked, I just don’t think he should be. Makinson is far better and more deserving of the pick.

| Hall is still a top class winger, it will be like christmas every week for him next year playing in that Roosters team as opposed to what he has had here in recent times.

he is right you are wrong, makinson is a good player, but is not and never will be in the same class as Ryan hall this version 2015 version 2012 version 2008 version. if hall was fit he would be playing and be first choice winger.
add a fit Watkins to England squad aswell, and i think Briscoe is unlucky not to be a recall, been one of the best wingers in league this year in a poor performing team.

And again, IMO you are wrong too. He hasn't been as good as Makinson for last two years. Makinson may well never be as good as Ryan Hal at his peak, but he is a damn site better player over last two seasons.
I didn't doubt he would be picked, I said he shouldn't be, over that player.

and again you are wrong he is still a better player and if fit should be picked over Makinson, makinson may well get the other wing spot over mcgilvery but hall. should and would have got the other.

| Makinson, Johnstone and the other contenders for the wing spots have still to prove themselves as international wings against the big two and its a hell of a big step to make. Its one thing running in 30 tries against SL oppo and an entirely different proposition when you step to that level and the space and chances are drastically reduced. You may only get one half chance a match and are also expected to be solid in all defensive aspects as well as aiding your pack bringing the ball back. It wasn't that long ago Charnley was ripping up SL, got his chance and looked woefully short at the highest level.
For me, if fit JM and RH are still clear picks for the wings for England although it's nice to have others chomping at the bit.

if the likes of Adam Milner and reece Lynd are considered international class, then even luke briscoe can consider himself in with a chance. but then again the like of Mike Forshaw Paul Johnson had long international careers under David (Iestyn Harris is overrated) Waite and Brian (talent is overrated) Noble

| I despair sometimes. Fully agree on personal opinions, and of course there is always one season wonders. Adam Milner for example has been the best loose forward in Super League, bar absolutely nobody, for the past two seasons on the trot, which shows a consistency and deserving of a pick.

| I'll go with Gotcha's view, if only for the sake of improving a winger for the next few years. If a World Cup was imminent I'd go with Hall.

SOL when fit is the best 13 in the comp and has been for a fair few years and that is exactly why he is still england 13 and captain. Milner should be in the squad no arguments.

But Gotcha's view was that Hall wouldn't be a pick for him even if fit.
Like you say, it will be good to see other wingers attempt to step up, although i see both JM and Hall capable of being first choices for the next couple of years at least both are 30 and the end is not that far away.

No my view is we need to move on and prepare for the future, and that basis should be on picking on form, and that Makinson has shown a consistency of top form to deserve that pick. He has been better than Hall, on form, not based on previous years or previous internationals.

Hall before he was injured was playing as well as ever, sadly in a team going backwards but he wasn't looking like he was declining or didn't still deserve to be playing internationals anymore. He holds that wing spot with an iron grip for me at the minute but The fact he is injured, i agree its nice to see others get a shot this winter to see if they have what it takes to take over when Hall calls it a day or declines so much he is over taken. As i said, SL form can only be taken so far into account, internationals are a different game entirely and only a very select few can make the step.

But surely you need a chance at international to show you can do it before people saying they are not up to it? You earlier talked about finishing, but there is no better finisher on the wing in Super League than Makinson. I give you the issue in yardage in general, but not all teams use that tactic for wingers.

| I’d say Greg Eden is a better finisher, not that I’d want him on the wing for England.

| Whoever replaces Ryan Hall for England during this years test series v The Kiwi's is gonna have to be very good IMO
I think that both Tom Johnstone & Tommy Makinson are both fantastic talents,Both are excellent going forward in SL, but neither have been introduced to the attacking threat that the Kiwis will throw at them defensively during the series.
How will either player go bringing the ball out of our own 20?
Or if they get a half chance of scoring during the series when it's a head down irrespective of who is in front of them?
Ryan Hall has delivered regularly against both the Aussies and Kiwis and will be a tough act to follow
