| Watched the game last night, like other posts I am concerned with the performance of JP. He is a giant of the game and has been a stand out for us, but he looked a shadow of his former self last night. I wonder if he is carrying an injury? if he is not I hope he decides to call it a day whilst he is at the top, and not fade away over the next two to three seasons.

| Actually thought his first spell was one of his best for a while with some aggressive carries and a good offload.
Second half though he looked to tire badly and was heavy legged and ineffective.
I've made my opinions clear in the past that this was proably a season too far for him.Not seen much to make me have a rethink.

I thought the same.
Maybe we should start using him from the bench more.

Agree. Have stated this previously (forgive me my boring repetitive nature )
Time for a little role reversal between Kirke and Peacock perhaps ?
Certainly Peacock is no longer the same 70 min per match machine.

| I think JP like Barrie Mc and Senior before him will need the "Trigger pulled" at club level rather than walk away on his own terms.

I wouldn't dis-agree with much of that.
He does seem to be getting less game time. Which should assist in squezzing more quality into his game time and I would give him games off whether he likes it or not.
In bewteen halves Moore and Kirke were shown some responsibilty by having to hold the Hull pack, whilst key starters were off and they did the job they had to do.

| Peacock's past it unfortunately.
It's sad to see a player like him looking so laboured and knackered but I haven't seen him put in a performance that persuades me he isn't over the hill.
Can this coach be ruthless and make a call, or will he stick by his good mate and keep playing him?

| I agree with Mr Scruff, and I do not think we will pull the trigger on JP.
We have been reluctant to do that over the years unlike Wigan and Saints who appear far more clinical. My original hope was that JP would make the decision and walk away head held high.

| I disagree that 'Peacock is past it'. Like Andy I thought his first spell against Hull was impressive. I'm not really sure what more people expect from him. He's never been an explosive Barrie Mac type player since making the transition to prop - but he still makes the metres. If there's a problem it is that he's had to play too much in recent weeks; if spelled effectively I'm sure we'll see the best out of him in his remaining Leeds career, especially now that he has decided to focus on club rugby.
No doubt the people calling for Peacock to go are the same ones who lambasted TS for dropping Thackray in 2007...

| Yes JP is past his best and looking a bit pedestrian but please fellas why pick on him when he still achieves more than the other props. Against Hull he was our top metre maker with 135m and made 26 tackles and most carries (25)
Good effort from Delaney too with 40 tackles and 2nd top metres (90m) and 2nd top carries for a forward (16) in addition to strong finish for his try.

| It's all well and good throwing stats around how good did those stats look against ST's ,Wigan ,Wire away??
Also we don't spell him properly so his efectiveness is eroded quite quickly if it exsists at all against better teams.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him be a our best Prop next week but then for the next 3 he'll get battered if selected.
The time comes for EVERY player no matter what their reputation or past to move onto retirement or in some cases move down a level.
IF we retain JP for next year then for me he shouldn't be playing every game and certainly not the long minutes he does of has done and i'm not convinced he will last the full year next season.
This isn't a witch hunt or been down on the bloke he's been unbelievable for us and will rightly take his place on our HOF bit how long do you go on with him??

his stats against
St's away: 124 metres 30 tackles
St's home: 119 metres 30 tackles
Wigan away: 132 metres 27 tackles
Wigan home: 128 metres 40 tackles
Wire away: 58 metres 40 tackles
Wire home: 115 metres 23 tackles
what annoys me is people talking about him like he's embarrassing himself out there, or that he's a pale imitation of a prop, and should retire right now
people said he looked poor against Hull and yet still made 135 metres and 26 tackles
he might not be as good as a few years back, but he's still a very good prop imho, not based on stats, but what i see on the field

Agree he is still quality, he is past his best but he is still got something to offer, i do think we need to use him more sparingly but i dont think we should be calling for him to hang up his boots just yet. Apparantly Roger federer is past it, but he still produced a great game yesterday to win his 7th wimbledon title

| Don't you just love it when fans get all precious about their beloved heroes.
All those stating Peacock is shot, not least myself, are simply advocating the man is not treated as the young man he no longer is. He is flogged uneccessarily week after week.
He should be used more sparingly; perhaps utilised as an 'impact sub'. By now the likes of Amor, Singleton and Daniel Smith should have been gradually introduced into the future team they are presumably destined for. Instead all are playing their rugby elsewhere.
Even Ward who has managed to buck the trend has already played scrum half and second row: not what I would consider conducive to his development. Select him at SO or LF (depending on Sinfield's input I guess) and bluddy keep him there.

what is his kicking game like, if he is to play stand-off?
and do you think his body is up to making 30+ tackles week in, week out, in the middle of the pitch, at 18 years old?

Probably no worse than McGuire's ....and probably more so than playing in the second row. Besides would that be his main role ?? I remember the likes of the willing Graham Eccles/Roy Powell been the team tackling machine to allow the likes of Phil Cookson/Paul Medley to take on the running role. Starting Chris Clarkson would take care of a lot of the tackling responsibility to allow the runners (if we had them in the squad) to take on the line breaking role.

What those stats don't show especially Wigan at home is the way the younger forwards battered us and in particular him.
He's way over-used and even if his figures look good on paper is that what everyone is seeing on the pitch week in week out?
It's not just JP though i think Kylies time is just about up and i do think the coaches should be rotating them much more and giving less minutes and games he can't do 60/70 minute stints anymore.
I don't think anyone is caling him embarrassing either that would just be wrong he's just older and less effective it happens even to great players like JP and many others this year have been discussed when their performances have been poor aswell.

Peacock obviously isn't as good as he was (say) 3 years ago, I'm not disputing that.
Nor am I disputing that he appears to have been overused and looked knackered in recent weeks. I don't agree that he should be used as an impact prop from the bench - he's just not that sort of player, what are you on?! If anything he still needs to start but should be spelled more effectively as rhinoms suggests (with the rest of the pack doing their fair share) and rested more frequently against non-top 8 opposition.
But this is a far cry from saying he is past it or 'shot', which are emotive phrases often used to suggest a player is ready for imminent retirement. He's not, and the stats back that up, as does what I see with my own two eyes. Out of curiosity, which other props at the club are capable of 100 metres a game? Genuinely interested to know... tvoc?
This may be hard for you Nantwich but I doubt we'll see McDermott bringing in any more youngsters or making radical changes this season unless so forced by injury. We're approaching the business end now and he'll want the most experienced players in who have proven that they can get the job done in the past. You might as well save your breath for next season

His own preference is to play stand-off, but obviously as a young guy he'll play where he's told:
"There’s a lot more tackling to do at loose-forward and you find yourself a lot more fatigued during the game,” he said. “I think I prefer stand-off because you’ve got more in the tank for attacking and I get the ball in my hands more. I get a chance to dictate things more, but I don’t mind either position really.”

| Some of his work making those yards is offset slighty by the increasingly very slow PTB's that often follow them. We usually have 2 props on the bench and gone are the days when Peacock could do a large chunk of the work and the others chip in, we need all props in a matchday 17 to be sharing the workload more evenly whoever gets picked and looking at the stats it shows the number of carries attempted by Peacock is way higher than any of the other props.

Will we ever see Sinfield back at LF ? .....looks like young Ward will need to continue to wait for as long as his captain remains part of the team selection process.
