Quote ="Bullseye"IMO it’s too soon to measure the success/failure of reserves since many clubs haven’t even completed 1 season with them.
The main point in favour of reserves given by those in development is to give 19s a chance to develop so this benefit is unlikely to be see immediately. It requires patience – something all too rare in RL. I’d look again in 3 or 4 years and see if more late developers are coming through.'"
This is how i'd view it too. I would like to see Leeds have one and I do think the teams who currently do have a reserve side will see the benefit IN TIME, but you're looking at after 12-18 months of running it, not after 3 games spread out over 3 months like Gotcha was thinking earlier in the year.
At the moment it's limited to how quickly it'll help because of how few teams and matches are played. Wigan have played 6 games in almost 6 months......that's not why their first team is around the top of the SL table.
If reserves were the key to this season's table then why have Saints gone from finishing 10 points clear of Hull before the split in 2015 to currently being 8 points behind them? Why are Leeds behind the likes of Wakey and Widnes who also don't have a reserve side?
