Quote ="Him"It's actually your quote that's rather silly. You think leaving out a player who's played 8 games all season and as you admit who's best days were 6 years ago is a big call? I think that's about the easiest call Royce Simmons has had to make all season.
A much harder decision will be whether to have Ashurst or Wheeler on the bench.'"
I was referring to the part where he refers to Leon Pryce being the GF hide and seek champ. Well on the years I stated he was on the winning side so a 'champ' and he certainly did not achieve that from hiding as he had outstanding games (on the back of dominent packs though in 2005 he was actually on the wing).
As for being 6 years past his best it's all about opinions but he certainly has had a few very good seasons over that period at St Helens as I am sure most Saints fans would back up. He may not have performed well in the last 4 grand finals but as any rugby fan knows your halfbacks can only perform if your pack gives you some kind of platform and the St Helens pack has been second best on every occassion the last 4 finals.
The one thing I will agree with you on is he has only played 8 games this season and therefore there would be a certain amount of risk in selecting him but easiest call Simmons has had to make all season??? Was he not originally in the 17 last week and did his replacement actually get a minute on the pitch??
