I'd certainly recommend what I've got. I thought I'd hate going from a 180+bhp Astra to a 1.2 TSI Ibiza (the 1.2TSI replaced the 1.6 very recently) but I've been very pleasantly surprised. It's no hot hatch by any stretch but it is a very eager engine.
As for fuel economy, I've only had it a week and a half but I'd have been pulling into the petrol station by now in the Astra - this one is still showing 180 miles since the fill-up last week.
Looked a few options but thought that the SEAT offered a lot more for the money - plenty of gadgets thrown in and whilst you can (if you really want to look for them) see in places where a few cheaper materials might have been used to cut costs but they are pretty innocuous.
