Wigan could pick Warrington (based on Thingly Rhinos predictions for final four) if of course Wigan win and Warrington lose in Week 1. Warrington have to come the long way round and could get picked by Wigan for week 3 semi!
I am not sure now whether I feel smug or a little dirty for doing this to you!'"
We have a difference of opinion on the context of the opening post.
I took it to be a hypothetical representation of the top four (in order) at Week 3 of the Play-Offs. Wigan and Warrington being depicted as the Week 1 winners and Leeds and St Helens as the survivors from the knock out matches in Week 2. The only previous experience of the top 8 system being operated in SL showed that the teams finishing 3rd and 4th at the end of the Regular Rounds failed to get past Week 2. The only stage at which there would be a definitive four clubs remaining, at the point where the club choice would be activated, is at the commencement of Week 3.
In that instance (and the poster appears to confirm that as his intention, both in the opening post and in a later contribution) then Wigan could not select their fellow week 1 winners which I presumed to be Warrington in the hypothetical example he set out.
If I've misunderstood the scenario offered then it wouldn't be the first time I've done so but it wouldn't be as a result of failing to comprehend how the Play-Offs operate.
