Quote ="G1"It is rash and silly to say that all you need to get a 1st team jersey with the double champs is a willingness to learn and hard work.
Whether Worrall is released or not doesn't alter that.'"
I said it's the case with Worrall, he's been given a chance within a squad limited by the RFL to 25 names. It hasn't worked out for him at Leeds, if it had there should be another offer on the table (perhaps there is.) Leeds' history is littered with players offering even less than Worrall.
Quote ="G1"Still, even if that is the case Worrall will have played an important role in at least one and hopefully two championship seasons.'"
Worrall was effectively on trial last season. That trial was extended for 2009. It's a pity Leeds' investment didn't pay dividends this time but the raw material isn't always up to the standards required.
Quote ="G1"Easy to say now but I seem to have been somewhat of a lone voice lauding JJB when he was getting stick on here circa 2005/2006 and recently.'"
Neither of us is going to prove that one way or the other.
Quote ="G1"Same with Ablett. I can't recall many gushing posts from you about his importance to the team.'"
I've always supported Ablett, even when playing out of position at centre but equally knew that his true potential would only be realised playing in the back row.
Quote ="G1"Wasn't he released in favour of Calderwood?'"
Cummins was out of contract that season also. Leeds' decision was to retain Cummins and promote Calderwood onto a panel of three wingers with Karl Pratt. I'd have released Cummins and promoted both Raynor and Calderwood into the first team squad. Leeds took a more cautious approach than I would have at the time.
