| Should we think about scrapping the professional referee idea?
There has been no improvement in the standards since it began IMO and to be fair and you only need to look at the amount bad press of late regarding wrong calls etc from both the on field referee and the video referee.
For the thing to me that stands out 100% is that the current professional referees think about the decisions too much rather than it being a situational choice between one thing or another.
This to me has seen the game go backwards in terms of referee quality and it must be costing an absolute fortune and I can't really see any benefit at all.
The money could be better spent on the development of players etc.
**Please not this is at no way a dig at the officials, just something that I feel very strong on**
