How can anybody turn down the coaches job, surely they must have applied for it as in the case of Jimmy Lowes??

Think Powell is a excellant appointment. Some say its a step back for him, how can it be. He has never been a head coach at Superleague level so wants a chance. He cannot fail because if things don't work out he would walk into a championship job.

Yeah , Took over from Dean Lance in 2001 but was shafted after they 'moved' him upstairs in 2003 to make way for Tony Smith

hasnt he already taken the championship job? =P i think its a big mistake from him. i think come next round of licences fev would be in a better place than cas for one.....

As a Cas fan, i actually agree with you on Fev being in a better place. I don't agree on it being a mistake though

He might want to test himself at a Superleague club.

He might make a good coach for Cas. He's certainly paid his dues. I was never his biggest fan when he was at Leeds, but it was far too soon for him to be given such a role. Now he's older and a bit more experienced he should do a far better job.

Of course you do....And that's my opinion!

Good luck to the new coach, handy that he has S.L experience (a few years ago granted) and knows his way around the Championship...where sadly we will probably end up

Tool or no tool, he is still without any doubt 1 of the best players in the league. An asset to any team.

not a chance can we gwt rid of Chase. Yes he may play stupid at times. Interceptions etc.... but no other player can do what he does at times. Without him we would be lost.

Actually Chase is about small enough for Bailey to put a late hit on - although he got flattened by Luke Gale on Friday...

Mildred always in his career seemed unapproachable, and that's not an atitude to have when coaching cas...

Powell did a speech at my school when he had just left the rhinos role... He seemed a likeable guy, but very straight and forceful with what he said.

Went to the meet the coach event last night. Very good turn-out and DP came across very well. You could see he has wanted to be at CT for quite some time - even in his playing days.

An extremely wise man (Sir Ian Mcgeechan) said that the talent needs to learn to play for the team and then the team can learn to play with the talent. He knows a bit about putting individuals together to play in a structure.
I can only surmise that off the field he is compliant, supportive of the structures and positive in his contributions, making it a gamble worth taking.

Personally, the challenge of integrating Rangi into a system is as difficult as a task I have ever seen! But that's why I was a bad player and an even worse coach!

Good luck to him. I never wanted him at Leeds but he's a top bloke and I'm sure he's a far better coach than he was 10 years ago.
