If this new investment come off for both Salford and HKR it will leave Cas Tigers as the only club without a major benefactor. I know we are indedted to Jack Fulton over the years for propping us up but this is different. Superleague is now run by a small group of individuals who are prepared to loose substantial amounts of money year-on-year. I have my doubts if we are in a position to keep up with the others.

Salford City Reds’potential new owner Marman Koukash is understood to also be considering buying the club’s Salford City Stadium home.

Dr Koukash and his representatives have held separate talks with land owners Peel Holdings and Salford City Council to discuss the move.

Sources close to the multi-millionaire race horse owner say Dr Koukash (pictured) believes it would be in both his and Salford’s best long-term interest to also own the £26m stadium to generate additional revenue.

Dr Koukash’s immediate priority, however, is to become the club’s new owner ahead of the Super League campaign, which kicks-off for Salford against Wigan on February 1.

Takeover talks remain at a very advanced stage and the RFL are very hopeful a deal is imminent.

“We remain hopeful the sale of Salford City Reds to new owners will be completed soon,” RFL director of standards and licensing Blake Solly told M.E.N. Sport.

“Discussions involving all the interested parties are ongoing and there has been a lot of very positive dialogue over the last seven days.

“The governing body has played – and is continuing to play – an important role in facilitating the introduction of prospective buyers and in helping broker the talks that have taken place so far.

“With our commercial team busy speaking to new sponsors for the sport’s wider properties, the RFL Executive, led by CEO Nigel Wood, has been at the forefront of discussions which we hope will bring about a secure and very exciting future for Salford City Reds.”

Dr Koukash, meanwhile, has also enlisted the help and advice of three high-profile figures from within the Australian NRL to try and speed up his buy-out.

He is working closely with Andrew Chalmers, who has previously served the New Zealand international board.

Chalmers is a well-known figure in sporting circles and is an associate of RFL chief executive Nigel Wood, who brought Dr Koukash to Salford’s rescue.

Ed Farish, the former NRL finance officer who is now involved with the Gold Coast Titans, has also flown in from Australia to take part in the talks and met Salford chairman John Wilkinson yesterday.

He was joined at the talks by the former Wigan and New Zealand coach Graham Lowe, who is an associate of Chalmers.

Lowe has a wealth of experience. Not only has he coached at the highest level, he has also held several key administrative posts with a number of top clubs including the Manly Sea Eagles.

The arrival of Farish and Lowe in the UK confirms just how advanced Dr Koukash’s proposed buy-out is.

I think that Fev now have effectively got themselves a massive mortgage at a high interest rate , the club no longer belongs the them & has basically been pawned ! this i believe was the proposal at castleford that led to a knock back for the proposer ....... shame really that such a proud club has to resort to this , but i suppose its a sign of the times

I here he'll get the whole club ie ,all its assets if the conditions of the loan are not met. Also heard that the coach is not happy with these arrangements .............. things could change in the coming weeks

The Fev Fans forum paints a rosey picture that all is well with the "arrangements" the fake shiek has with the club. I know several Fev fans who a not happy at all and are genuinely concerned of a) his future plans for the club regarding ownership and b) his past exploits with other clubs.

I find it strange why any professional players would want to go and watch other professional players play a game of RL.

There was a rumour on the Salford board about him earlier this week that I laughed off. Maybe there is something in it. Although if he couldn't get a work permit for Hull 3 months ago he won't get one for Salford now.
