The first 13 is strong but as said before once injuries and / or suspensions kick in then we will struggle unless new players are brought in.

Looks like a decent first 17, but really lacking in depth. If Chase, Webster, Owen or Shenton get injured then you may struggle. Keep them fit, you should be looking at challenging top 8.

Saw Thompson recently - he has lost a lot a weight. I think we might see him in the backs.

The numbers mean nothing, last year no,3 played on the wing, second row played any ware from stand off to er, i can see Tompson or Holmes at loose, if Tansey gets up to speed he will cover for full back & the half's, we do need more bodies but we haven't got them so the kids will get there chance, and we can see if they can do a job. Remember we don't have a clean slate, and we cant walk away from the debts like some clubs

You look at the money clubs and they are running with around 33 players in their squads including the youngsters. There is no doubt that at some stage of the season we are going to be found short but hopefully by then we might be in a position to add a player or two.

On the whole, the squads I've seen have around 26/25 players in. I think it's only Hull KR who have 33 in and 7/8 of them have never played SL.

Two and five played on wings last year but as you said numbers mean nothing even basil said this last year as its just a modern concept,bring back the traditional 1-17

Noticed Josh Atkinson hasn't been given a number.

I'd be gutted if Thompson wasn't an integral part of our starting line-up.

For me he was our best and most consistent performer ever since he was re-introduced last season.

I also agree with the posts suggesting him as a No.13. When he played in the back-three (the year before) I thought he looked devastating.

Given enough game time and responsibility, Jordan could be one of the surprise packages in the whole competition next season.

re: squad - on paper we look to have a much better 20 (approx) players than I had previously envisaged. Two good signings and we might be alright.

31 player squad at the mo Rovers and promoted 2 young guns (Beherall and Esslemont)
with no SL experience, the rest of the squad(apart from the 2 below) have either SL or NRL experience. The other 2 young guns(Hepi, Ollett)were in the 1st team squad last year without playing Super League.

Did I say just youngsters, though? No. Did I mention NRL experience? No.

Burns, Tuimavave and Paterson haven't played SL. And not all NRL players come over here and have an impact. Therefore, my statement of "they have about 7/8 players who haven't played in SL" IS factually correct because you HAVE got 7/8 who haven't played in SL.

Then you could also add in Alex Brown who has made just one solitary SL appearance and James Green who has made one appearance.

We could play Tansey at full-back if Owen's form is down.
