The abuse was out of order but Wakey warmed up at the Railway end and attacked the Wheldon Road end in the first half so up until he scored his first try he was nowhere near the majority of Cas fans. I don't care what he says, his celebration was inflamatory and he knew exactly what he was doing. He needs to put his brain in gear before operating his mouth in future.

He incited the crowd - that's why he got the abuse that he did and if he's going to behave that way then he needs to man up and accept it. I guess plenty of fans will have seen some of the snide remarks he's tweeted implying things towards Cas as well. Sickened he may be, but he's not an innocent party in this.

"Man up" and Mathers in the same sentence? Doesn't work, happy to be rid of....

On twitter I have respectfully and non-abusively suggested instead of asking his "innocent" questions and refering and implying things about Cas, on behalf of other players, he would be better paid letting people make their own minds up.

He disagrees and thats fine by me.

If you choose to out your opinion and use your status and platform for your own free speech, sadly you can expect it back.
I might write a counter piece "Deano sickened by gobby players naivety" where I express my dismay at gob e's who know what snide point they are trying to imply but then when their 1:many ratio turns round to bite them on the and they get many:1 abuse back, it's not fair.

Like the guy, seems badly advised sometimes but it is his life, he has to live it his way. All that said, we do have some really unpleasent people sometimes who's opinions revolt me and I have a few miles on the clock, I just hope nobody went too far in the sun and beer.

Yes his reaction wasn't as professional as what we have come to expect from Mathers, but hey, if you can't take it - don't dish it out!

I think the real concern for you guys is that he's scored 3 tries past you over the season and you're still paying half his wages - very shrewd!

Only concern I have got is that he doesn't play for Cas Tigers next year and by the looks of it my wish will come true when Wakey finally take over his contract.

It shows just how highly Cas actually rate him, enough to pay him to play against them



On topic though: do you expect anything else from him? He will moan about anything! He's really in the wrong profession.

He's been fantastic for us for the majority of the season, a couple of "Mathers Moments" but like I say he's been very good for us this year.

Cas appear to have been duped, he's had a great game every time we've played you (even at the BV debacle) - I'd much rather him than "revolving door" Owen. As for his moaning, the iPitch one was a bit embarrassing for him but he has a fair point about being booed after not celebrating his try in the MM event.

I lost all respect for him on sunday.So glad he won't be wearing a Cas shirt again.Idiot!!

I'd have been sickened by some of our fans using the c word towards him as it was unwarranted and an awful thing to hear. Richie Mathers has done nothing wrong as far as I can see.

Where we were stood in the PS Mathers was being given the benefit of doubt until his second try which he celebrated in front of us (and zero Wakey fans) like a last minute GF winner....don't tell me that wasn't an exaggerated and deliberate act of provocation. The guy has some ability but absolutely no class.

Cause he was celebrating and I don't blame him the unfair abuse he took from some of you lot - you're yet another cycloptic fan I this case.

Jeez Hudson virtually makes love to his Cas badge on the rare occasions you beat us and we don't moan, and that bloke took your silver and was banned for 2 years if we're talking class!

Hudson has been at Cas for ages and has been here when his career started so undoubtedly is a Cas fan and loves beating Wakefield and shows passion, however Mathers has been at Wakefield for 24 games (not even a full season) and looks like he would lick the badge, I'm sorry but the only reason he celebrated like he did because he knows we hate him

You must be very young and poorly informed because Hudson is from the Stanley Rothwell area which isn't especially Cas - he was a junior with Stanley Rangers and he started his career at Hudds and made his name in a big way whilst at Wakefield - before running off to Cas for the silver. He's been at Cas a while but not all his career by any stretch and like most players is not a fan any particular club.

I can't hate him just because he plays for Wakefield and because he didn't figure in Millward's plans which is not his fault in the slightest. I would have him back at Cas next season if possible but some idiots spouted a vile word at him and if I was him I'd never come back.

I know what I meant I worded it wrong, as when he played for Cas he played for GB and represented Yorkshire I meant where his career escalated. He has been Cas the longest time throughout his career (added up)

Lets not forget how Unfairly Richie was treated by the club/Head coach - If i scored a try against a Club that gave me unfair dismissal for no paticular reason (Through him out and told him to train on his own) and on top of that fans abusing him all throughout the game (Before he even scored a try) Then im sure i would shove it in there face and celebrate how i wanted - Dont like it dont give it - Like our fans with Tommy Lee - our fans said he was complete garbage - he signed a new contract and agar came in and got rid of him - he scored against us and told our fans to shush - Jesus if you cant take it dont give it

I thought Mathers had a decent game on Sunday probably alot better than he ever played for Cas , The problem i have with the whole abuse thing is i dont get why the Cas fans would give him it has its well documented that he didn't want to go, that said if he was that bothered about it why was he laughing at it at one point and when the chants of Winker Winker were been shouted (of course its wrong before anyone says otherwise) why did Mathers react by playing along giving a five knuckle shuffle motion as it was been shouted , Might have been better just saying and doing nowt.
Just for the record me personally I would have him back at Cas ,think hes a very good professional

Some of you lot need to grow up!

He was sledged from the start of the game, so it was obvious he was going to enjoy scoring - that was the only way he could respond, short of getting involved in an argument with the crowd; if you gave it, you have to expect to get it back in some form or another.

Some of the hateful nonsense directed at him during the game and on Twitter deserved to be outed; good on Mathers.
