| What a shame that his little lad has a seemingly, for now, incurable illness. It must be awful for his family to have to go through this and I do hope that there is a cure found as soon as possible.

| Andy Johnson's son Jack has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Basically a muscle wasting disease. If no cure is found he will lose all his functions and ultimately his heart will stop.

| Life is very short and precious, potentially losing a child, I can imagine nothing more painful.

| It's hard to find words for situations like Andy and his family must be facing. I really feel for the guy and hope that the RL and wider community support this very very needy and worthy cause.

| I don't want to pollute this thread with anger, but while there are things like this in the world and charitable appeals like this one struggling to raise funds for research into curing conditions and diseases like this one.
Yet, people will pledge and give thousands in buckets to the Bulls and prop up lies and mistakes made by that club's board and other sporting clubs live beyond their means, default on payments and then the "new co" walks away largely from the debt.
Makes me sick in my mouth people would donate SL rings and shirts to bail out the Bulls to the tune of £500k?? I have donated to this, each to their own.

| My dad died of the worse version of this disease - being Motor Neurone Disease last year. Their is virtually no funding for this awful disease, hardly any knowledge of it and most doctors will never see a patient who has it as it's so rare.
So sad for this little kid to be going through such an awful disease. It's for only disease you'd swap for cancer.

I know what you mean mate. I fell out with a load of people on Saturday after watching the Andy Johnson interview and being so emotionally rocked by it. I was playing golf at a course where if you went in a certain bunker you were encouraged to give money to a nominated charity. Giving money to the charity wasn't the issue, it was the choice of charity that wound me up. It was something to do with cats!!! I mean c'mon...having seen poor little Jack on TV, I had to ask myself where on earth are some peoples priorities in life collecting for Cats ffs, don't humans....kids come first?? C'mon guys dig deep for this one young lad that we know about, and just think of the many more kids with similar conditions out there that we don't know about.
