| I see London are asking for special favours again. They have made a request to the RFL and all other SL clubs for special dispensation to allow them to register Jarrod Hickey as they have inadvertently exceeded the permitted no. of non federation players. The RFL are considering their request - what's the betting they allow it unlike when Cas did the same with Tony Martin a few seasons ago. I wait with bated breath!!!!

| It's been put to the senior figures at respective Super League clubs, not the RFL, hasn't it?
Not that I think we should be given any dispensation whatsoever, especially after the club have been bailed out financially on numerous occasions in the past by the RFL.

| This is what really hurts our sport, I am not a conspiracy theorist and the majority of things we have to do to protect our future are our own:
But when things like this happen and whoever is considering it at the moment, the competition operating rules and any exceptions have to be sanctioned by the governing body, so ultimately, this is likely to be ratified formally by SLE/RFL.
Essentially, we were burned into forcing Hendo from the club with rule changes, only for exceptions to be granted, as a previous poster pointed out, there was no leniency or support when we signed Tony Martin and that hurt us in PR and financially, so it does beg the question would Wakey, us, Salford...... etc get any breaks? I doubt it.
There are precidents in competition rules - for instance you can only be signed by 3 pro-football clubs in a season, so Sol Campbell when he left Notts County I think it was in February or March, he was essentially watching loose women until the season ended becuase he had already been signed by 3 clubs or something - so other sports manage to have rules and stick to them.

| quite frankly the answer should be no and the club should be punished otherwise it opens the door for other clubs to sign too many and say they did it inavertently then ask for special treatment but this is london broncos after all, the rules are there for a reason and if a club breaks them whether by accident or on purpose they should be punished

| No. They knew the rules when they signed him, they know the rules now. If they weren't sure they could have checked this and therefore they should be, and I hope the other SL clubs agree, deny them any opportunity to register him.
Puts the player in a difficult position, though, as he has to find another club.

| He will still get his salary for the season so he's hardly in that perilous a position. With regards to mdean's post, there is also precedent in that football clubs can apply to the FA to make emergency loans outside of transfer windows. Not saying its the same but there is plenty of rule bending done in other sports sometimes.

| How can you sign an extra non fed player and not realise you have exceeded the quota?
If the clubs are unproffesional enough to make these kinds of errors they should deal with the consequences.

| I agree with the majority of what has been said - we would have had to pay Tony Martin and pay him to be de-registered in our scenario.
I do very strongly feel for the player, very much so becuase as a professional sportsman the money is one thing, but your appearances and your reputation contribute to your value - so at the end of the season of invisibility, it would be hard to attract a new contract.

| Judging by the condition of the player in question when he arrived at WTW last season, I'm not convinced that his professional reputation is at the forefront of his mind.
However, I sincerely hope that all the SL Chairmen who received this letter replied with an unequivocal no, and that the RFL do the same - someone at the club has cocked up and I can see no justifiable reason that they should be allowed special dispensation to compensate for that cock-up. If they are, several clubs (including Cas) could feel justifiably aggrieved that they weren't afforded the same opportunity.
As has been pointed out, the club will have to honour the value of his contract and I guess he'll become a free agent; in short, tough titties.

1) RE: no answer from CT; RW cant help himself, he loves keeping up with his correspondence!
2) not all broncos fans think this, read the third post in on this very thread, he is in a minority of 1, or he's forgotten the sarcy emoticon!!
