Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have completed a busy day of transfer activity by confirming the signing of Samoa international Ali Lauitiiti, just a day after he revealed his seven-year stay with Leeds Rhinos was coming to an end.

The 32-year-old forward, who has also represented New Zealand, has signed a two-year deal with the Wildcats.



i know they arent making brilliant signings but it is an improvemnet on the team they have this year. we havent even secured anyone to replace deano and guessing fozz will leave this year.

We need to get the coach sorted and some players signed up asap. Especially the youngsters

What does this have to do with Cas?

They were also in the running for his signature, but appear to have been "gazumped" as it were.

Still it's a high risk/high reward signing, if he plays as he can then we have got an entertaining and experienced player, however it depends on how much he's got left in the tank and whether he can stay injury free.

Don't rate him now. If he had been a few years younger and fit, then he would have been a good signing.

On another note, Wakefield do seem to be getting a lot of people on board. I just wonder who is behind the signings, is it their board/chairman or is it their new coach who has not yet been announced. Seems a bit daft to me signing all these players if whoever the new coach is doesn't rate them.

The current Leeds pack is one of their worst for a number of years (as said by their own fans and I work with a few). Remember Lauitiiti was going to go to play for the kick and clap boys, until his pension boat has just come in..................

Check his career stats? He's done nothing outstanding, he isn't as good as what Cas already have and I can guarantee most if not all Cas fans would have been disappointed if he had signed.

Was just going to say the same. Seems their fantastic Academy (which is one of the Licence areas is it not) is working wonders, especially signing players who have already been there and come back (Fox & Wilkes)

I would rather wait and sign someone who we have targeted, not every Tom Dick and Harry who come available.

Wow, a carthorse that has played 12 games out of 23 this season. At 32 I think he is ready for the glue factory. Uninspiring. There is a reason Leeds are getting rid. He was a good player a couple of years ago but not next year.

With Morrison and Ali, you will have the oldest back row in super league! At least Morrison is still in good condition. Young English squad my backside. Telling a few porkies on the super league application? Wakefield? Never!

Don't forget other than Chris Dean to Widnes, Wakey haven't started to name the player exodus to NL1 yet.

A long way to go to match the Tigers - even on 2011 standards. Unlike Wakey we have plenty to play for yet (they will find this out for themselves next Saturday). Their season is over and these mediocre announcements will keep the deluded happy.

Don't know where these Wakey fans pick these rumours up or their sources but it's clear they're being fed rubbish regards Cas in terms of player recruitment.

As someone has said, we're waiting for the new coach to be announced.
