Good luck for the future Shenny, gutted you're going. Great news though that we've signed Arundel up.

Looks like he(Shenton) is definitely coming to us(Saints) then.

Gutted Shenny's leaving, he will be missed. Great news on Joe's new contract though.

Surely, the only reason he’s off is to win a thing or two. It can’t be the money, or getting into the England team.

Gutted about Shenton leaving but if he wants to go off and better himself then fair play to him. He has given us good service and has stuck with us through 2 relegations.
Good news on Joe Arundel staying. He has looked impressive so far this year and i think he should vacate Shentons number 3 shirt.

I too am ed that Shenny's off. Same old story - we produce 'em, start building better teams and when they get good, off they go. He'll be back when he's 32, you mark my words...

Dam right Arv, we seem to nuture our own into good players, then lets them go.
Who next westerman, thompson, i understand his reason for going, lack of ambition from our leader....makes my blood boil.

Mind you, if he DOES go to Saints, he can play as badly as anyone an still be assured of a international place.

Arundel is the future of course and great to see him and the young home grown players mentioned on the other thread getting games and long may that continue. With Rangi on a 3yr contract, Danny back to help him out and give us some stability I think it looks good for the future if I am honest.

Shenny leaving isn't great news, I agree, but we can't have it all ways and I think it will freshen him up and neither owes the other anything - he has shown loyalty and long service with relagations and we gave him the platform on which he has earned representitive honours - both parties can feel satisfied they looked after each other and he goes with our blessings - now we bring in the next prospect as we seem to be trying to do.

We can't keep everyone, sadly it is a fact and some will argue we have kept people we shouldn't and we should do whatever it takes - but in reality the kid wants to move, bottom line.

Shame that Shenton is going but I wish him all the best for the future wherever he goes ( Saints ).

For a club that harbours ambitions of being as good as Saints and Leeds we need to start regularly producing our own producing. The fact that when one player leaves another can come in such as Arundel bodes well for the future. Similarly, the fact that they have to get one of our players rather than bring their own through speaks volumes about our youth production.

I don't get why people are denying him the chance; it's not about our own ambition. We cannot spend the full salary cap and therefore we cannot justify on giving someone an overly-lucrative contract to try and persuade them to stay.

I'd rather us splash the cash on two or three players and build up a bigger squad.

But will we.
Dont forget how tight our leader is.

Our recruitment is not over yet apparently. Make what you think of that but now we have some money to play around with in our budget, I'd expect a decent replacement for Shenton.

Matai, Campbell, Paleaaesina and another prop will do me.

If we can get a couple of good players for the money we offered Shenny then fantastic. The likes of Joe Arundel are the future for us.

I think TM said we're not interested in Paleaaesina recently too which I'm very happy with.

Sorry to see him go but can't say he hasn't done his bit for the club and has been loyal in some very lean times, best of luck to him.

Good news about Arundel, already a real prospect.

ps: For some reason I don't bedgrudge players going to Saints rather than Wigan or Leeds, just seem not to have that aura about them as one of the 'big' clubs. I can only think of Wardy & Chris Smith going to Saints from Cas in recent years, any others?

Well remembered that man! Wasn't it Smith's thirsty problems but reported as him having to commute too far?

Like everyone else disappointed Shenny's going but he goes with our best wishes,he's been a loyal player and helped us when we were down,That said as one door closes another opens hope to see Young Joe get more game time and develop into an outstanding player for the Tigers.
