called in this week for a swift one on my travels,and was astounded to see a pub so full<of p1ssed up folk>
apparently they were all drowning their sorrows as the pub has been sold and will soon be demolished
is this correct?
if i could make out what they were saying correctly,they had all been boozing for "days on end",some had even spent the nights there and hadn't left the place
i am gutted if this place wont be there in future as it's always my favourite watering hole when the rhinos are in town as it's full of caracters!


i will always remember that distinct smell in there though!

Yes the crimeas has indeed gone (though the landlord is hoping to get another pub nearby) as for memories, very few i'm afraid, most of them from the start of the night and never any of the end

But to drown the sorrows, The Speed and The Big Jimmy Duggan will be going to the isle of man tomorrow morning

I went down on Monday (extremely early) and spent the entire day there

...never really expected to get so emotionally attached to a pub but I'd met some beltin people there and had some good laughs and some really great memories. Was speaking to Jimmy, and he sounded dead set on getting a new pub, mentioned the Britt but Im not all that sure the fella running it atm would let it go (at least not cheap). We'll see soon hopefully.

Must be the IOMTT ?

Jimmy is selling the land so they can build on it for the regeneration scheme and has already said he's hoping to take over another pub nearby (which he did name but i'm not sure if he wants it on a public forum).

Ah just noticed you've named the pub, yeah he's after the britt, the landlord of which is leaving.

Lets hope he gets it, should be a cracking music venue.

It was mad. It took ages to get to either the bar or the loo.



At one point the power went off and all the pub just sang without the band playing. BTW i think the last band went on at about 3 o'clock in the morning. Oh and the next day (about 9am) i was told hat the doors were still open with people still drinking from the night before.

Yeah, in retrospect I should have kept it zipped (sorry lol) anyway, hopefully he will get it, think it would be amazing for the bands...Didn't realise the landlord was leaving though, bodes well for Jimmy

which pubs that are still going in cas are worth visiting when we come over on the 15th aug?

yes me and james got back last night, good pi$$ up as well as good racing

tell him to clean his cellar the dirty sod

rumour has it that some sporting regulars are still being asked to politely settle their bills!

Let's hope he does get it and kicks out all the kids getting served in there - it's like a youth club at the minute.
