Is your ground not a no smoking stadium? I thought they all were by now. If not then why do they tolerate so many smokers?

I believe you can smoke at the Railway End and behind the main stand... I might be wrong mind.

It's not a non smoking stadium, I would have thought places such as Bradford, Wakey, Salford and yourselves would all be smoking in designated areas only. You can't smoke in any of the covered areas as Gazemous says, but you can smoke at the railway end (I always seem to get suck at the side of a smoker whenever I'm watching from there) not sure about behind the main stand or anywhere else in the ground.

I was told that making stadia non smoking was a major part of the franchise criteria. Also on top of this, no one is to be allowed into the stadium wearing flat caps or any items of clothing which still has the brand label "NCB" on it.

When we played Saints me and my mate got asked to put our cigs out when we were smoking in the railway end. I told this woman that you could smoke there, as it was open. I then had a couple of other Saints fan pipe up next to me. One bloke said it was the law that you couldn't smoke there as it was banned in all stadiums. They just wouldn't listen when I said you could smoke there as it was open, and that I had been going to watch Cas at home for quite a while and have always smoked in that end. They wouldn't have it though, and were being really clever about it, so I just told them to go and get a steward if they wanted. Shame I didn't have a cigar on me!

Then you're to be congratulated for managing to live in a society which absolutely depends on the routine and systematic exploitation of people in third world countries in order to keep you in the manner to which you've been accustomed. Of course, their deaths and desperate poverty aren't important really are they? They're foreigners after all, and it's not as if you personally [imean [/ifor anything bad to happen to them, is it?

Unlike those evil smokers who deliberately set out to force you to passively smoke and thereby run a vaguely remote risk of mildly upsetting you enough to wish them all dead. Still, when you DO die, at least you'll know that any NHS treatments, palliative care, etc that you receive in your final weeks and days was in fact paid for by, er, taxing smokers.

I'm sorry you feel intimidated in the face of bare facts, but perhaps if you can't hack living in a society where OTHERS (not just you) are ALSO allowed to exercise their right to do whatever the hell they like then maybe it's you who needs to grow up. The legislation now in place makes it virtually impossible for a smoker to adversely affect you unless YOU yourself go out of YOUR way to determine to be affected. If that's the case, then you deserve all you get.

Jesus, you're like a terrier with a rag doll! Yes I do live in the same country as you, at least I think I do. The one I live in is tolerant and allows people the freedom to do what they like within the confines of the law without anyone openly wishing them ill.

You see, the point I'm making is a simple one. I have no idea how you live your life but I can absolutely guarantee that you'll routinely do at least something that other people disapprove of. Innocuous acts like leaving lights on annoys the green lobby, speeding annoys the road safety groups. Boisterous or drunken late night capers which seem harmless to participants can strike fear into the elderly.. oh I could go on - but none of us have to look too far to find something in our lives that p*sses someone else off. If all those people you regularly "annoy" could be bothered to tell you they hope you die, then you'd feel pretty different about coming out with such thoughtless cr*p yourself, of that I'm pretty sure.

Now as far as smoking goes, the days of being forced (as if you ever were) to go into smoky bars, etc, are over. The law changed a couple of years ago, so that non-smokers are now fully protected unless they themselves are being overtly belligerent. Smokers are pushed outside now, if you want to continue to be affected by smoking you have to go looking for them. And if that's the case - if you go out of your way to be a pain for people who smoke in the open air - then you deserve all you get, frankly.

In a diverse society the key is a word I've already used - tolerance. Other people will do things you don't do, or don't like. I'd suggest you learn to live with that fact (especially when what they do helps keep your taxes down) or p*ss off to less tolerant society if you find you can't. On balance, you've got it pretty damn good in this country.. laughing at the prospect of someone else being hospitalised is totally childish and bang out of order.
