Today Salford had a retro day. Old players in the Willows, highlights from games over the last 20 years on the screen in the bar and fans turned up in retro kits, rarer the better.

Was really good, would we like the idea of doing the same??

In Australia they have a "retro" round,where teams play in their kits that they first entered the competition in,but Cas could do something like this anyway.

I like the idea of the old players parade at the ground etc, maybe get some of the greats of yesteryear to talk to the players,especially the younger ones,in the lead up of a game,Imagine that!

Personally have one of the 1970 retro cup final shirts kicking about somewhere

Thats a bit like today. Fans were showing off old kits and talking about em. A parade of legends would be good too. In a difficult season it would be nice to remind people why they are Cas fans and nice to remind players that the ground may be old, but they are part of something very special with a proud old history.

As for talking to young players, my school (right next to Old Trafford) Yr10 football team made the schools FA cup QF recently and we got Denis Irwin to come in to speak to them, it was great and had more effect than anything we could say ever would.

Imagine what a team talk from Reilly,the Beardsmore twins,and Wardy would do

And the subsequent cards the players would receive.

Wasn't something similar done for the 80th anninversary a few years ago. Special shirt designed, old players present and led to a good result if I remember correctly? Didn't Dean Sampson talk to the players in the dressing room before the game? Perhaps the club could produce a limited number of retro shirts with legendary numbers/names as a way of raising money, perhaps auctioning some off on ebay? Just something different that could give us some positive publicity?
Unfortunately at the moment it might make people realise how poorly the club are doing when we reflect on our proud history.

I'd like to know when the last season at the Jungle will be!!!!

Steve Gibson played for the club in 1987-1993 & was a legend, he is returning to Aus (he only came for 3 months) for good, so asked me to organise some of his team mates to come down for a bit of a farewell get together. I was suprised how many turned up to be honest, around 40+.
As you pointed out, fans turned up in retro shirts, some really ancient & got them signed.
