Personally I think the on field ref was the one who ruined this.

The Touchie comes on and says Keith Senior, punch on Jon Wilkin major contact with the head...... It is not in context of a melee and there was no other circumstances - thats a straight red first off.

Then the RFL look at it later automatically.... that said, the same ban for a willful punch to the head and a bad timed tackle - seems Mr Senior's thuggery has been overlooked again by the powers that be and he gets a weeks rest before the playoffs again.

You are right in that is the automatic minimum, but a red card always prompts a disciplinary hearing as well, it is possible he would still only have got 1 game, but the ref bottled as well.

what winds me up is, we have youth and junior leagues setting fines higher than the RFL, if a U16's player did this in the same context i would expect nothing less than a red card. but it just shows how spineless the ref's and RFL are concerning violent conduct. the kids see this sort of action and think thats all they will get a yellow or a warning its just not good enough......really grips my 5hit this.

I believe the linesman offered that view and he ignored it.

The linesman said it was major contact so, to me, that should have been a red card. F*ck knows what you have to do to be sent off by chinning someone.

Yeah mate agreed. U18's Amature clubs get fined £250 for a brawl and players can recieve 2/3 match bans if there is video evidence for similar offences to friday night!
