| 24 out of 26 kicks since he resumed kicking duties fantastic achievement and one that will significantly enhance his chances of playing in the 4 nations.

Westy's kicking has already won us points we may have lost, more to come too
Now lets get him in the halves with Rangi to show the world what else he can do

| Must admit, whenever I've seen Westy kick in the past he always looked a very promising marksman & I was a bit surprised he hasn't done the job more regularly.
I understand the argument that it heaped more pressure on his young shoulders at a time when there was already a lot of expectation on him. Presumably with the 'expectation' having died down somewhat so that he's now just a normal part of the team he can shoulder the kicking duties.
Lets not forget though that Dixon also won us 1 or 2 games early season through some good goalkicking - Hull away & Bradford at home spring immediately to mind.

Don't think you'll get anyone knocking Dixon, but having lost more than our share of games be 2 points, it makes me wonder what position we could have been in now if Westy had been given the job earlier and had this level of success

True but he'd definitely make a better job of it than Faumina and Goldie's lost his confidence, or the plot...or both.

OK, I am mad, but that's the point you've made, he's a damn good option. IMO he has all the skills to do the job.

I would love to question your opinion of Goldie there, but I can't. JW when he was playing youth rugby was an excellent 6 and he also took all the kicks, would be a good option at 6 and move Ryan Mc to loose.

| i was suprised myself to see westy pop so many over.. however one can only feel he lacks in organisation skills and maybe a bit of pace to be a 6.

| To me one of his biggest strenghts is his work in defence especially from the marker position so I think he is better at 13. For me the only thing that he lacks to play 6 would be the ability to kick 40 20s under pressure.

Its not just about his skills though, the halves are a partnership and to put his skills with Rangi would be exciting.
Not sure where the doubts come from with regard to his pace, kicking or organisational skills

I donit think it will affect them tbh, seen as Myler, Burrow and Burgess are all fair kickers and at least two of those will definitely play. O'Loughlin & Ben Westwood can have a crack at kicking aswell IIRC.

But I would rather see Westerman in there than the latter 3.

Cant recall westwood or burgess ever kicking so how good they are remains to be seen. Burrow is a decent kicker but not upto the level that westy has been kicking recently, in fact the only 2 on that list that has matched westys recent form are myler and sinfield. Cant see sinfield geeting the nod due to all the times he has been shown up at international level. Its not just about being first choice kicker, sykes got the nod over shenton last time just because he was decent back up kicker and can play a number of positions. whats more i wouldnt put burgess at loose, burgess is a beast of a forward but is more a prop or second rower than a loose forward, westy is an out and out loose forward, something that england have needed since sculthorpe retired.
