Come back on here pal when you have signed players like Sam Thaiday or Paul Gallen.......... then you can say we have made "FANTASTIC SIGNINGS". Good look with who you sign, but I couldn't give a t**s who you sign to be honest, especially when you are making out that they are world beaters!!. We did that in 2004 by buying over the hill players that other Super League teams didn't want and look where that got us. I would be happy with 2 new signings to compliment what we already have and to ensure the younsters are coming through (which we have proved for the last few seasons). It's OK telling us who you have signed, wait until the promising youth players start to go AGAIN!!!

Oh dear you can almost taste the fear of the Cas fans all the way down through my wi-fi connection! I find it really humorous that you go to great lengths to justify how poor our signings are and how they won’t make the Cas team…… blah blah blah. You’ll find everyone at Wakefield is very pleased with the recruitment so far, a nice blend of experience to mix with our young guns!

What I personally think is bothering Cas fans on here (and that other forum) is that Glover can be seen to deliver on his promises about progressively spending up to the full cap. You’ve had a couple of years in the sun but maybe the natural order of things will return.

On the subject of franchise promises, what’s happened to Dickies promise of PP for the development of WR, we was told August? At the moment no plans infant nothing at all, we don’t even know if what supermarket this so called development is going to accommodate!

Isn't that the case with most signings, your comment means very little these days. Very few clubs by in contract players. Hence the choice is almost always down to the player at the end of his contract. As far as I can tell Ellis and Wilkes were simply offered better deals by us that Quins could or would not match, they were however offered deals. Fox is clearly an out of favour player it happens. Southern is a typical Aussie signing that may or may not pay off, we have all been there Cas included. Lauatiti is clearly a player who we could take a flyer on because for well documented reasons we have a load of space in our salary cap.

I think most Cas fans would have Lauititi given the chance. I personally wouldn't but I'm not typical. Ellis, Wilkes and Fox would easily get a place in your team as I'm sure many of yours would in ours.

As Slugger says it's not a todger measuring contest. It's a team game and sometimes the teams with the best individuals are not the best teams, it's how they gel that matters.

Ellis may be about to have the finest season of his career and be pressing for England honours by next September. He may also turn out to be a total dud. You can't judge how good a signing is until the end of his time at the club not the start.

I don't recall Rangi Chase having many if any offers whilst down under, yet you all seem to feel him a good signing.

For what its worth i think you have made some useful signings, but getting them to gel on the field is a different matter.

Just ask Salford & Bradford fans this, signings aplenty in febuary, they were very optimistic and a few pundits had them both to make the top 8...both look like they will miss out!

Ellis would be behind Hudson, Milner and Clark.
Wilkes is no better than Huby, Emmitt or Jackson at prop. Wouldn't get in the back row either.
Fox would be a squad player. Don't think he offers much more than Youngquest or Owen though. Might be quicker than Dixon but Dixon has utility value.

None of them would be in first choice 17.

Fox is awful defensively, Owen isn't. Owen can score tries and is tipped to go on to great things. Whether he will or not is a different matter.

I'd have Owen in my team any day of the week over Fox. Owen can play fullback (which he actually is), so you can't really compare him against a specialised winger. Fox was good when in his prime and on form. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case for a season or so, that's why Hull KR are happy to release him. Still right age though.
