| I'm sad to see joe leave but it was clear he was going to be gone after this season anyway, so we may as well get a fee for him, especially if it means we can put pp in immediatly as we have no time to waste. I'm not sure our young payers are 'being driven away' shenton played for 7 seasons for us before leaving and joe did 4, even the biggest clubs can lose there home grown players.
Hopefully john davies can now step into his boots as imo he has the potential to be a fantastic loose forward.

Whilst I am gutted that another of our International Players has gone we have done it for the right reasons, The player wanted away on his toes, The club wanted(not needed) the cash and the supporters want a new stadium.
Maybe the only question to ask is why did he want to leave and what can be done/changed to keep the likes of Thompson, Walker Milner Thompson C and Brierly?
Maybe in two years time when we are sat at out brand new Amber Bowl stadium watching these lads we will say Joe Who??

Gutted but it sounds like it may be for the best really...we need the cash and it seems that this is the best time for both him and the club to go. I do worry about the lack of ambition that Cas seem to have on the field with losing home grown players, it some ways it looks like we've decided we're not going to get a franchise so have decided to pull back for the next 3/4 years in order to get the stadium sorted and then start rebuilding. Just hope our crowds can be as patient.'"
The point i was making Hull are now very professional on and off the field which includes very strong player discipline. If any player steps out of line for any reason the club have shown that they come down on them like a ton of bricks. If Joe wants to get to the top then he will have to be a model professional.I guess he has plenty to prove.

| We have sold one of our best and most promising players, I dont understand why people think its ok. Surely the drinking culture at the club is down to short comings in the coaching and management. I sincerely hope we bring in some one who is a bloody world beater. But, knowing Cas we wont even sign anyone. RW will say we will sign someone as the season goes on. Then it will never happen. Whos next, Rangi?

| We seem to be losing our young talent at an alarming rate. Huby is the only one who's really stayed with us, and he's not a world beater is he? We seem to be the destination for bringing players through, allowed them to be pawned off, and then ultimately taking in all the players that no-one else wants.

Huby has been twice the player Westy has this last season, I don't find it worrying about Joe leaving, it makes good sense cashing in whilst we can as long as we get a replacement who can do as good if not an even better job.

The difference is we have OTHER assets in ADDITION Maybe I should take a photo of the sign at your ground saying "this stadium is owned by WMC"
come back when you can write something worth reading.

It seems they did:

| As much as it is dissapointing to lose Joe i think this is a good deal for all concerned. Last season Joe was a shadow of the player he was in 2007 and 2008 and to an extent 2009. He was usually always the first player off the pitch at the end of games and was known to be part of the drinking culture at Cas. I dont think he would have improved under Matterson and the statement by RW says pretty much he did not want to stick around. Getting a fee for an unhappy player is good for us and it gives us some money to bring in 1 or 2 players. I think Joe will go well at Hull and hope a change will do him good. In return we lose a young star which yes it doesnt seem good, but with Joes known drinking and unhappyness i think it is the best move for us and him.

Nor Westy, though he did say: ""I want to thank Castleford and all the players, coaches, staff and supporters for everything they've done for me, particularly Terry Matterson who gave me a chance from being young."

| The reason I was unhappy this morning was because the quotes make it look like we've sold just to fund the new stadium. It hasn't. We didn't want to sell or need to sell. However, the money will no doubt help cover the Full PP costs and make things a little better on the purse strings. It also looks like this was why PP was delayed. Again it isn't. Oh and Hull fans it's 175k not 150k

If the money is going to be used for the stadium then it's fair enough - I've often said that takes priority - but the club really need to press on and get the planning application in as there's no apparent reason for any delay.
I'm concerned that if our youth policy is "the envy of many in Super League," why so many of our talented players ultimately end up elsewhere - this is the source of my concerns regarding the club's ambition. There must be something cultural that drives them away.'"
its money, its the same at wakey, you get good players andsell them to survive. its not part time any more where they all work down the pit. neither club will win anything again unless a millionaire comes in. new stadium or not it will still go on,thats why they wanted teams to merge

| This is hard to take and not just because he had great potential but because of the overiding opinion held by most that he could not develop further at Cas. How long before we hear whispers that other such young lads are not happy with the club and have had their heads turned while playing for their country? paranoid? me?
Of course there are other young un's to fill in and have just as much potential but how long before the glamour of playing for the home town club wears off and a huge wad of cash is handed the clubs way for a want away player?
I want the new stadium to happen more than most but it seems we may have to suffer a lack of ambition from the club on the field for a few years yet and thats only if we get a new licence which is in the balance even if all goes to plan with the new stadium.
In my humble opinion Rangi Chase is on the verge of gaining full international honours on recent form and this is a worry to me as the trend seems to be Cas lad plays for country Cas lad moves on. Who knows Westermans replacement may something special although at such short notice I cant see it.
Sad really.
