And that kind of pseudo comedic response is precisely the reason that your musings on this topic remain both incorrect and spurious at best.
I should leave the Billy Pearce material for those who can carry it off sunshine.

Because you haven't the intellect to engage in debate or sustain your point as to why you think an 18 year old with a broken leg and no track record is better than a Grand Final winning, England international, (who scored in the World Club Challenge having had a top class game against Canterbury Bulldogs) former NRL player, who was deemed good enough to replace a still excellent Gary Connolly in '04 with admirers including Tony Smith, Brian Noble and seemingly your current coach for his recent form and ability.
But let's not let facts get in the way of your spurious offerings. Feel free to continue with your working men's club comedy and 1970's insults.

| Why the petty arguments.
Mathers is not the player he was at Leeds, certainly not consistently as he was at Leeds. But he is a damn site better player than most you already have.
Owen is indeed a class fullback, but you have no guarantees that he will be the same player when he returns. Indeed the reason Mathers is not the same player he was at Leeds is that he's had two knee reconstructions since then, and only this season is now starting to recover fully from it.
Mathers is far better than the likes of McGoldrick, Evans, Wainwright, Dixon. And how many players have you played at scrumhalf this year? I bet Mathers would be better than all of them in that role.

Precisely my point. Mathers of any era offers a superior option to the current Tigers backline.

Your the one who has ben displaying a lack of intellect.
Your also wrong about owens age, he's 20, why him having a broken leg at this time should make any differance to his qaulity is beyond me, seen long is injured at the moment is chris thorman suddenly a better half back. how is richard owen umproven he's played proffesional rl from a young age, always looked class, took the step up to sl in his stride whilst being safer under the high ball than mathers, faster than mathers, scoring more tries than mathers and with a better disciplinary record than mathers. He's been in a side that won a trophy so what? ricky bibey must be a class act then. he played in the nrl, so have chris feather and chris thorman and they arent good enough to play in sl anymore. if tony smith thought he was that good why is he replacing him? why isnt noble making a move to take him to wrexham? and if terry materson does rate him and currently there is no evidence this is true to my knowledge, that just proves that he is considered to be as good as ryan clayton. If he's so highly rated by coaches how come his last 3 coaches have got rid of him?
Whilst you didnt quite stop acting like a child, at least you attempted some form of debate, well done, even it was a load of rubbish, at least your trying.

Not completely sure but I think Warrington are replacing him with Brett Hodgson because of his goalkicking as well as him being a better player also.

It would be interesting to know who is selecting your recruits for the 2011 season, cant see them letting Potter do it as he's on his way, the new coach isnt in place yet so who ever he is it doesnt look like he is having much of a say in the dealings then. Perhaps its on the recomendation of your chairman or maybe he fancies the job himself

When i heard Hodgson was moving to Wire i immediatley thought we should be looking to get Mathers. He's got lots of experience and is the type of player who believes in his own ability and i felt wouldn't want to settle for 2nd fiddle. He has his faults, but so do many players and even if in their opinion, some people don't think Mathers is the greatest, we haven't ever been in a position to sign the greatest player in any given position. I'd take Mathers now. He's proven super league quality and will do us a good job. If we can get few more players of his caliber to go along with our few gems and young uns coming through we'll do ok next year.

| Mathers is a good squad member and top professional. Sadly, he tends to have these brain farts which blighter his game and the poor lad stands out like an absolute sore thumb at times.
For example, yesterday at Crusaders, Nick Youngquest broke our line from 20 out. Mathers was back in the correct position to deal with it, and where the logical thing to do would be to tackle the man with the ball, he actually (incredibly) ran AWAY from him, and Youngquest ran over without 1 finger laid on him. It really was incredible. I can only think Mathers was thinking Youngquest was about to pass, though there was no one anywhere near him. It was odd to say the least.

Something is only irational if theres no reason for it, the post above yours is one of the many reasons why someone wouldnt want mathers in there team.

| Mathers will be a great signing for you he gives 110% in everything he does and helps to boost moral within the team. His positional and organising is good and comes into the attacking line well. I want mathers to stay at warrington but we desperately need a goal kicker which is why we signed hodgson. Im sure some of you saw the kick by briers against leeds were he took a big divot out the pitch and missed 3 from out wide against crusaders. Only problem with mathers is he seems to have lots alot of pace.

Correct on all the above.
The clear fact is, he would be a good addition to a very average Tigers backline, whether certain agenda posters like it or not.
Watching Hodgsons brain fart yesterday also illustrated he is as fallible as any fullback in the world.
