| Mr Pearson will have to wait a long time before he sees his money back,( or if ) when you have a business plan to loose £5m for???, well thats a bit foggy, but hes living the dream,
Mr Davy, i don't think he will ever see his money unless he sells the club.
And to be honest if the clubs with the sugar daddies are that profitable, ......then you don't need their brass, they should us it to help other clubs in the game, and strengthen the game,....... i can see that going down well at Wigan if Lenagen toddled of to a less well of team, and Caddic and Hetherington left Leeds and decided to invest in their home town teams, it easy to say we dont need the money, when your rolling in it, but for clubs without, it's a very different world.
If the new chap at the Bulls thinks hes money will be recouped, he should ask the old directors how many millions they made

| That's the good thing about Dr Kaukash he said he's not after making profit as he makes plenty of money elsewhere he just wants the club to be run properly to the level where it can win trophies.

| Quote ="Father Ted"The new investors at clubs are not throwing money at their own place.
Wigan make a profit with Lenagan in charge.
Moran makes a profit at Wire.
Saints will go into profit 2013 McManus has said.
Caddick makes Hetherington get a profit out of Leeds.
Khan will make a profit in a year or two after his investment.
Davy is trying to do the same at Hudds after underwriting losses.
Pearson will have HullFC making a profit, not difficult there .
The days of major benefactors pouring money down a Rugby League drainhole are mostly gone or very much on the way out.
They are all running their clubs on the basis of well run commercial outfits.
My club, Wigan, are now making yearly profits and winning trophies. Leeds and Wire are doing the same.
If clubs continually lose money the day of financial reckoning will come. Make a profit and you're in business forever.
I do think this generation of club owners are very good for their own clubs and Rugby League in general.
I do wish you good fortune in turning the finances around.'"
You paint a very rosey picture there Father Ted. Back in the real world of SL though only 2 clubs made a profit last year. Wigan and Leeds. The combined profit of those two clubs was dwarfed by the combined loss of the other 12.

| Throw tens of millions at club and they end up profitable, but if you dont have that kind of money you end up in a viscous circle of robbing peter to pay paul, small clubs cant afford to market and pay full cap so its hard to increase revenues. If we had the same sort of investment that some clubs have had we would be in a shiney stadium making triple the corporate income, in front of 10k crowds, watching our top 8 team full of some the best youngsters in the game. But we dont have that kind of money.
Look at how much warrington have grown with more council backing than us and a sugar daddy. Look at how much huddersfield have grown.
If any of the fans of the bigger clubs know a solution to teams struggling to grow on a small budget i would be glad to hear it?

| I think the new Salford set-up will be touted about by the RFL as [uthe model [/ufor sucess for any small club with SL aspirations. Own your own stadium, multi-millionaire backer, grow your fan base and invest in the juniors. Thats if it comes off of course.

Own your own stadium - Isn't their stadium the Council's?
multi-millionaire backer - who can pull out at anytime and leave the up poop creek without a paddle
grow your fan base - not hard when you're only averaging around 4-5,000
invest in the juniors - how many of Salford's squad from 2012 were "home-grown"

If the guy suddenly comes up with £5million or £15million I would think that British and Spanish Authorities may take an interest.

he doesn't tehnically have to come up with it just show the board that he is good for it which he hasn't done yet. Most over here in East Hull are pretty sceptical tbh and the board are playing it cool also

I thought the rest of the land was for retail units next to the stadium and all the remainder, next to the Ship Canal, was for "Port Salford".

It's true that no-one would invest in a rugby club to make money out of the club. However, you can have a policy like at Leeds, Wigan, Wire ( and others, I'm sure ) that the club makes a modest profit whilst being a serious competitor for trophies. There is a monumental difference between making £1 profit every year and losing £250,000 a year, as ten years of the former will leave you in good shape, ten years of the latter puts you in Salford's or Bradford's position.

People seem to be taking the mickey out of the above but there is a good deal of truth in it. Certainly Saints, Pies, Wire, Rhinos are in this position. Hull, given their gates, could well be so if managed properly. We'll have to see whether new management at Salford and Bulls can deliver.

There is no room around the stadium for a racecourse. But around three miles away , close to Worsley is where the proposed track is wanted. But residents have opposed it for years.

He doesn't want to build an all weather track? He's planning to build an onsite training ground, hostel for academy players, hotel, other plans but not a all weather track? And as for the racecourse if it will make Salford council money it will be built, the residents if Barton never wanted this stadium but they could do nothing about it as the money men of the area wanted it.
