| Good luck to Shenny (no player has given more in the past 7 years) but my main concern now is Arundel and in particular the expectation being heaped upon him. We should all remember Shenny's early ups and downs and not subject Joe to the criticism Michael tended to suffer from certain quarters during 2005 when he didn't tear up NL1 defences on demand. Joe will be on a steeper learning curve in a much tougher environment and we must be patient.

| Sorry to see Shenton go, he's been my favourite player for a good few seasons but I suppose we can't really begrudge him. Best of luck Michael.

| My six year old lad is gutted! Shenny is his favourite player, a real role model for him. I managed to calm him down by telling him Shenny will still play for England!
Can't begrudge him going - he's given very good service to Cas over the years and it's probably time for him to take a step up and look to play in a different environment and give himself a chance of glory.
I wish him all the best (apart from when he comes back to play against us, of course).
And we've got the good news about Arundel to ease the hurt. Give him a couple of years and he could develop into a very good player. The potential is there, he just needs the right development environment and time.

| Thanks for some great memories shenny, good luck fella, hope you win some trophies.
Glad its saints, good chance he will win some silverware and a club i have some respect for, they will use his attacking talent better than anyone else i suspect.
Plus when he's won some trophies there will still plenty of time for a return as he's got another 10 years in him.

| Always sad to see a local high quality player leave, but these things happen and Shenny wants to move up a gear and win things. No issue with that at all. Thank you Shenny, you give your all for Cas and have been very loyal.
Good luck and you're always welcome back. Hope we give him the send off he deserves

| If Shenton has half the impact that the great Kevin Ward had at Saints I will be more than happy.
It reminds me of when we signed Gleeson from Hudds a few years ago,all the potential in the world to be a top class RL player.
Anyway Cas good luck for the rest of the season and I hope you make the playoffs.

Is this a genunine comment or a wind-up? Ambitions of being as good as Leeds and Saints? Up until 2 years ago you wern't even as good as Featherstone!

| If Arundel is a real prospect I would like to have seen him offered a longer contract than 2 years
Rumour is shenny has signed for 4/5 year contract with saints. They will make sure they recoup something for our endeavours, and probably in 2 years time, when another one of ours is showing promise they'll get him for sweet FA and flog shenny back to us.

Just because he didn't sign for longer doesn't mean he wasn't offered a longer deal.
It's a two-way street, clubs can't force players to sign deals and with the amount of uncertainty around at the moment, why would Joe Arundel commit to more than 2 years?

| So what can saints expect from shenton?
Is he fast?
Can he beat a man?
Is he a wingers centre?
I know he's good in defence, I hope he turns out to be top class, this country needs a top class centre for the world cup.

| He's quick on a broken field and he can catch. Don't expect him to be a powerful centre breaking through the line ala Senior.

Yes
He can but lacks the power to go through his marker so has to round him which is much harder with the limited space available these days
Not particularly IMO, certainly no Lyon/Gidley and Atkins is better in this department.
One other thing, he literally can't kick....looks as though he'll fall over every time he tries.
As you know he is great defensively, one of the best I've ever seen, not just for his tackling but his reading of the opposition's attacking plays.
Give him time to settle because he hasn't always seemed to be the most confident of players but in the unlikely event you're not satisfied with your purchase we'll gladly accept return.

=#0080FFI could be on my own here, but I wouldn't accept him back. He's decided he's too good to remain at Cas now, so he needs to go and prove that he is good enough elsewhere.
I wish the lad well, but he's not welcome back if he fails in my opinion.

All I know for sure is that he has decided Saints are the better option for him at this time and that does not have to mean that he thinks he's too good for Cas. Surely when it comes to recruitment the key issue is whether a player will add value rather than where his previous career path has taken him to/from.

| I believe that joining Saints will improve Shenny's power, he will become a line breaker.
The problem we have at Cas is not only our fitness but the general size and conditioning of players. If you look at teams like Saints, Wigan, Leeds and even Warrington and Huddersfield all their players have bulk and power as well as fitness and stamina. The likes of Cas, Wakefield and Salford don't have this, and I believe that this is the major gap between the top half and bottom half of the table

Fair points but i still believe that the fitness between the top and bottom half of the table is vastly different
And to be fair, Huddersfield were a shower of sh.... when we played them at home
