| Youngquest - two less tries
1 more tackle bust
9th in carries
4th in metres
5th in average gain
5th in clean breaks
So in all but one in those, Youngquest is worse.
Compared to international class Ryan Hall
Hall has 1 more try.
Griffin has made more metres
Griffin has better average gain
Griffin has made less errors so far this season.
Obviously Hall does come better on other stats such as missed tackles and offloads but the high missed tackle count from Griffin probably comes from the fact that teams like attacking down our wings because it's a vulnerability.
Says it all when 7 out of the top 9 in the list are backs (Ferres included as he seems to have played more there than SR). Other two are Mitchell and Holmes, which are the two positions usually outside the centres in the defensive line or at the side of the halves. So, yeah, I think you're being particularly harsh on Griffin and judging him when he's not had a settled centre partnership and his centre partnerships consist of a winger and two second-rowers.
His pre-season form was excellent when he was playing on the left flank.

| Younquest has also been on the opposite wing, if you had him & Griffin swap wings you'd see far more production from Youngquest compared to Griffin does currently.
You're vastly over rating someone who, at best, is average. Personally I'd much rather have James Clare in the side over Griffin.
Quote His pre-season form was excellent when he was playing on the left flank.'"
The majority of the side looked good in pre-season, as did the attacking flow that shows pre-season games mean nothing because when it comes to playing games that actually have a point to them, Cas are being easily defended and Griffin (along with a number of other players) don't look good enough at all.

| Playing on which wing is a matter of irrelevance! If Youngquest played on the right wing, he'd still show the same worth ethic, the same hunger for work. And Griffin would still have the same frailties of playing outside some who isn't a centre! And I think your statement is even more outlandish when you consider that we seem to play a left-hand side dominated attack with Chase being down that side!
Although Clare has only played a few games, I think it's too early to compare players like you have with such a wide-sweeping statement. That being said, I don't think Clare has been standout to make me think he's better nor would I pick him on the fact he's 'homegrown'.
It seems some of our fans think that because players are 'homegrown' they escape from being criticised....well, except bar Owen perhaps but then you can't really defend the indefensible.

Erm...
One winger (at every club) sees the ball more than the other winger (the same goes for centres too). Shenton is having the same problem at St Helens, he never sees the ball so he never has the chance to do anything.
There's really no point arguing with you though because to use an American term you're a "homer" and you will defend anything to do with the club to death, no matter how poor the player/coach/board member etc is.

| Absolute tosh and you know it. Given the fact that I just criticised Owen above then makes your point invalid straight away.
So you wouldn't say that we have a tendency to attack down our left flank more then?

| And the only factor that I've not taken into consideration is appearance, which Youngquest has made three less of. This would probably alter the stats.
Of which, if played same amount of games, based on average stats:
Youngquest would have same amount of tries
Youngquest would have six more tackle busts
Youngquest would have made sixteen more carries
Youngquest would have made 47 more metres
Griffin would have more average gain
Same amount of clean breaks.
Not much to separate them really. They would have also missed the same amount of tackles too. But this is pure speculation based on averages.

| To be fair, it's peeing in the wind. If we sign a proper centre next season, let's see how Griffin does then. If he's still the same, fair enough, we'll agree.
But right now, I'm prepared to give the lad a chance, not just on his attacking ability but because it's a quality that with the right teaching, coaching and support can be knocked out of his game. Equally, because he's not had that consistency of a centre inside of him to work with.

| Yet it's often stats that count most. For instance, points accrued in a table, points difference in a table. Technically, the final score is a statistic.
Regardless, statistically speaking, no one is as good as Wigan or any other Wigan players. Or so I am told on a frequent basis.

A winger worse than Josh Griffin...who'd have thought?

| James Clare is a far better player
Davies is better than Mitchell too
Get rid of the players Warrington don't want please....drop Ferres too he couldn't tackle a good dinner and his rugby brain is non-existent!
