I was told on Friday night that Andy Hay had been brought in last week to answer questions on why Gledhill had been allowed to leave the club. Pure speculation of course, but I suspect there are a fair few fans who would like to hear the answers to such questions too.

Simple reason. Not enough money or prospects offered. The lad belived in his abilities far more than the pwers that be. Apparently they were suprised when the offer was rejected but never made an attempt to up it. Little did they know Leeds and Wakey had made offers with a couple of others making enquiries. I suppose with never playing super league they did not want risk offering more. Playing 21's though surely you come accross super league players week in week out.

This is all true, but before Cas fans beat themselves up to much it needs pointing out that Gledhill was at Wakey before he joined Cas at 16. So he never was a total creation of the Cas club.

As has been mentioned there is a lot of movement between the two clubs for obvious reasons.

Also Wakey and Cas take on junior players differently. Wakey don't pay big money to 16 year olds where as Cas do. Cas get the cream of players at that age however it's a risk. If a glut of them make it then clubs like Wakey are in a better position as Cas can't afford to keep them all.

You could say Wakey are lazy or shrewd but it's just a different approach. At the end of the day Wakey won't go into a bidding war with Cas for an unproven player who may never make it or who they will probably pick up later anyway. The flip side is that Wakey do have a lot of 20+ players in the squad all on similar and fair pay rates and all have a better chance to make it.

Both ways have there merits and both work, just looks more spectacular when Castlefords method fails.

The 'big hit' was quite some way from where I was standing but it certainly caused Gledhill to leave the field for a short while. It looked like a three man shot but if it was your man Walker then it was a good un.

However if this Walker kid is any good surely TM is not that dumb and stubourn to at least try him for a game or two from the bench.

Playing the role of prop is not just about 1 big hit per game. The lad has to make yards, bend his back and tackle etc. Jonny is a really good player and really does need blodding in the first team to see how he fairs. Come on TM, give JK a ring and ask him what to do to promote youngsters and what to do if the big names don't perform for their big money.
