For me pyeman, it would be a toss up between 3 things,
1. do i want to see wakey play in the top flight? yes
2. do i mind being a tenant in a ground owned by another club? id prefer not to be
3. is SL the be all and end all? it shouldn't be, but i think it probably is, and that is no disrespect to any clubs below SL level.
The difference for cas would be in question 2. and for me this makes the make up of the question very different to if it was asked of wakefield. IMO cas would be joint tenants at NM, a sports facility for the district on neutral territory.
I side stepped your question slightly, so in answer, i would 100%...............not be sure.

On a serious note, I seem to remember Wakey dismissing the idea out of hand not so long ago when the idea was raised. I don't think I could ever see it happening without the teams merging, and that will be the day I stop watching rugby league forever.'"
The merger thing would be a real concern for me too, as for wakey dismissing it, that was at gh i think.
I would prefer for both clubs to have separate grounds and 100% maintain their own identities, however the clock is ticking and we are still not in either new ground and the rfl have laid down a new factor in this lot of franchises, we arent guaranteed three years if our grounds aren't moving forward.
If both clubs are moving forward, no problem, if not sufficiently for the rfl both clubs could have real problems.
how about:
e) when rangi chase becomes english?

I agree with you kinleycat. It is up to both clubs to get their respective fingers out because when the licence applications come round next time, there could be a couple of championship clubs with strong cases and the RFL will be looking at both of us if our plans have not come to fruition again.

A tongue in cheek comment on a thread that has little merit other than to provoke exactly that type of response.
It has no bearing on your original dishonest use of part of a quote from an unrelated thread.

TBH mate, i think if we don't "pull our fingers out" it wont take three years to be staring down the barrels, the rfl have made that quite clear this time around.

By gum! Make sure you don't get a nose bleed up there on your horse.
Back on topic - I think either club would be daft not to share a ground until their own was completed.

| All small minded drivel aside and without any point scoring, I am not into petty rivalries I want to watch my team have the best advantage commercially, facilities and in infrastructure terms, whatever that takes:
If there was a completed stadium within the catchment area I think both clubs would be idiots not to consider it and use that to safeguard their future.
From a business perspective looking at the infrastructure, tourism and sustainability elements, in my mind the Glasshoughton development is a prime site for that development, but that’s my own opinion.
A stadium does not make the club and the fans - in fact the opposite; fans can make a stadium and support and therefore a club.

| Quote ="Fully"Depends how you decide if we 'fail'.
[size=200The reality of Cas 'failing' is zero because we still have full PP and still have our own asset to sell. Therefore, whether it is 1 year, 5 years or 10 years, Glasshoughton will be built sooner or later.[/size This is in contrast to Wakefield who are relying on the PI to go their way, which if it doesn't then it's back to the drawing board. I do suspect, however, that should this be the case that a new planning application for the same piece of land will be drawn up but on a smaller scale.
Opus are obviously behind WR 100% and are putting significant cash into the project through their various pre-consultations, reports etc, to fully supplement the Planning application for full PP on Wheldon Rd. They wouldn't do that if they were confident and the unprecendented support (over 22k signatures) just makes the work a whole lot easier. It's harder to argue with public opinion.
Anyway, we'll cross this bridge when it happens but for now there is no reason why both stadia shouldn't be built in both sets of fans' opinions. Let's hope that this is the case then this discussion can finally be put to bed and fans from other club can finally go foxtrot oscar.'"
How do you know it will happen? Not long ago you where taken in hook line and sinker by Dickie Wrights Ben bailey angle. You refused to accept that the value of WR was considerably below the cost of building a new stadium (like I said all along). The whole Opus thing is obviously still in its infancy until the planning permission goes in (if it ever does) all your doing is speculating. It’s all wishful thinking and nothing factual has happened till that PP goes in. The truth is that nobody really has a clue what is going on behind the scenes. The whole Ben baileys fiasco took you all by surprise; I feel a few twists and turns will come with this Opus thing.
Wishful thinking will not get you your new ground.

It's not the same it though Pyeman! I'd rather us be playing right in Wakefield, Durker/Thornes Park but that wasn't to be. Now we have to compromise and move practically outside of town to edge of Stanley. The distance between Wakefield centre and Cas centre to Newmarket is near equal. If we have to share at any the only fair answer would be Newmarket, it would involve both teams moving a distance from their supporter base but that called compromise. Sharing at Glasshoughton would only benefit Cas Tigers, Newmarket would be a fair compromise.

66% against, to be honest i thought it would be higher.
Good luck, hope none of us have to rely on this scenario, but im sure there are many bridgge for lots of water to go under.

It would be interesting if you try the same poll questions on both boards with the opposite scenario -
"Castleford are on with GH and NM isn't looking like happening"
See what results you get then

| So as this thread is supposed to be hypothetical what about another scenario that maybe not many people have thought about.
The town of Castleford could come under the district of Selby if it were to move away from WDC. There as already been talk of the boundaries moving towards the north yorkshire direction. Therefore Tigers (not been part of the Wakefield district) would not be able to accept this mythical ground sharing option at Newmarket.
