| My understanding is that an announcement that will leave people in no doubt at all about the stadiums reality is very imminent.
It's been a long long battle, but the future is very bright.

| I went to the Jungle/Whealdon Road twice last year to watch Warrington and thought the ground was quite ugly but the view and atmosphere was brilliant, shame about the team performances.
I think you should keep the stadium, what do you lot think

What if Wakefield Council hav'nt given Trinity any money at all!
If Wakefield Trinity fund and build their own stadium without any finances from Wakefield Metropolitan District Council then Castleford and Featherstone for that matter will be expected to do the same.
The danger to Castleford is that a precedent has then been set!
Wakefield Council will have cemented their position on the issue of financing for any of the three clubs with whatever agreement they may have reached with Wakefield Trinity.
If they have contributed financially to Trinity's new stadium then, in my opinion, they should be obligated to invest the same in both Castleford's and Featherstone's.
If they have not contributed financially to Trinity's new stadium they are equally obligated not to contribute to Castleford or Featherstone.
So whatever this significant announcement is regarding Wakefield Trinity's stadium then it could either be very good news for the Tigers or more worryingly it could be devastating!

What a load of nonsense. Where is there any public use in Cas stadium and more to the point where is there a stadium in Thornes park.
As I have been saying for yonks and Clan has just eluded to is that whatever Wakey get determines what Cas will get. It's politically impossible for both not to be totally connected whilst ever the Council is involved. As far as I'm aware the Cas development cannot go ahead without some Council support, if it could it would be built by now.
Especially as the plans and site have been available for years and planning permission was granted some time a go. There can only be one reason for the delay and that is a funding gap. The only people able to bridge that gap are WMDC. As soon as many of the posters on here swallow there pride and admit this the quicker we can all move on.

| You will all see in the near future, im not worried and i hope Wakefield get a stadium too.
And the hold up is partly because Wakefeild Council aredeciding whether to house a swimming pool and indoor facilities at the new Cas ground. They will not be funding anything to do with the stadium just the council owned property within ie; pool and sports hall.

| I have also heard rumours the waystone have run out of money to continue the project due to economic crisis.
Last update we had was that work had stopped for winter due to weather but would re start in spring and that they were finally getting a design team into design the stadium.
All we ask RW Is tell the truth and keep us informed.

If you and other similar teams lost your franchise because you did not get a new stadium then I would be very dissapointed with the powers that be.
First of all the marking system for the franchise was all rubbish as, for example, Leigh Centurians could have got 5 points and a B license which would have ensured a super league place on the facilities alone, this means that you could get a super league team by just having a stadium and abide to other rules regardless of the fact that you have crap players.

Not what I hear, it's on public record that a new pool for WMDC will be built ironically on the site of the old one - sun lane. This is not me wooden spooning but I think you're having a straw clutch with that one. I can see some logic except for the fact that it's actually Wakefield itself that hasn't got a pool and is meant to.

Why are wakefield council not allowed to build 2 pools in the same district?
There will be a new pool at Sun Lane and also at the New Cas ground(if WMDC want it, hence the hold up). Not clutching at straws just what ive been told.

| How about knock the railway end down, move it back into all the spare land behind it and put a roof on the new stand there - that would make the pitch bigger, then extend the Princess Street stand to meet the new stand in the railway end, increased capacity and no reason to get a new stadium, and for a fraction of the price.

There's also plenty of room behind the main stand to do that up really, if the club can get a sponsor or something for a couple of million they could essentially make the stadium hold 14-15000 and have a full size pitch with a modern main stand.

Could start the railway end during the season like Leeds did with the Carnegie stand, and the extension on the princess street side could be done during the season too (like Hull KR did with their side stand). The main stand would have to be done during the off-season and probably the start of the season too, it doable, but the capacity of the stadium would have to drop while the work was done.

It's technically possible except for one major point you seem to be overlooking - finance. With no money from the sale of Wheldon Rd you would have to find say 3 million (minimum) to bring it up to a standard that will benefit you as a club. I can't see where you would find that cash - ditto ourselves. The main reason most clubs go for a new developer driven project is because it relieves them of having to raise the finances. Basically it's non starter unless you find a Sugar Daddy to carry the project.
Also old grounds are riddled with problems, access, planning issues, hidden building issues (drainage etc). Where as a developer of a new stadium has a need to keep cost down, a contractor re-building an old ground has every reason to put costs up. It really is the hardest option IMHO even though it often appears the easiest.

| Why cant wakey and Cas just share a stadium it would benefit both clubs.
Although IMO the jungle is the best old ground in super league I would like to see you extend the side where the seating is on into a big stand with all the top facilities and then extend the terraces on the two sides not on the road and put roofing all over, it would be the best stadium in the league, and the atmosphere would not be lost.

If they give us nothing. then votes for them from the good people of Cas won't matter will they.
I have no axe to grind with Cas and a new stadium and have often said on here that i wish you luck BUT and it's a big BUT your post is so far from the mark it's almost in Fev mate.
