Quote ="mdean"I am struggling with some of this thread, I am sure I remember a golden run at the start of the season with this squad before we lost a number of players to injury, including probably 3 of our 4 best props and after Easter our wheels really fell off.
Owen was coming back from a potentially career threatening injury... Since then Ferris, Jackson, Dicko are bust, lots of players are playing jabbed and patched up because of the unprecedented injury position we are in particularly in the forwards.
So, this brings me to thinking that why would anyone see their booty with Cas at the moment? Yes, I would suggest we need to add to what we have, but wholesale "we have got to sign 'some' quality" or people will walk seems a bit extreme.
Put into yesterdays team and game: Huby, Jackson, Dicko, Emmett, Clarke, Walker, Ferris and have a fit couple of others not playing jabbed, then it is different...... I know all clubs get injuries, but this is somewhat extreme for us right now.
We need a centre and a prop for sure - to replace Isa and Fozzard. I do think Goldy has run his course at Cas, we needed him when he stayed loyal and we appreciated that, we have re-payed that debt when he has needed us when he has been injured and mediocre and worse, so like in all relationships, sometimes it is best just to accept it is over and move on for both parties.
Looking further, we do need another option at half and a Widders! But who doesn't need a Widders!
We have a coach who has SL rings, WCC's and CC winner, if we pull a performance together next week we will still make the 8, it is in our hands still, we made the CC semi's - we're solvent and potentially we will build a stadium or, there is no reason to suggest we wont at the moment.
So, was yesterday crap and did we fold - yes, were Hull better, yes - have we done that too many times this campaign, too right- but is this the best season overall since the yo-yo rollercoaster began? I would suggest yes....... on balance.'"
