| so who is going on sunday i will be there a nice early start for the trip up there. As for the game there coach was not a happy bunny after monday nights game and i am expecting a bit of a backlash from them. They may not be playing well at the moment but i still expect them to come at us hard. We just need to make sure we at least match there desire if not better it and on the back of that i think we have the fire power to get the 2 points. I will go for a fax win 16-24.

| Saturday night in Ulverston, Sunday night in Barra for us. icon_biggrin.gif I'd be happy with any win to keep the momentum going but as TS says Barrow will be hoping to get their season up and running as they are in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the table. Nonetheless even without Lachlan we should have enough fire power and I'll go for Barrow 16v28 Fax. icon_thumb.gif

| I have always acknowledged that Grix knows a lot more about rugby than I do - but unless Doro is injured I am at a loss to understand why he is not even in the squad and Maher starts. No doubt I will be proved wrong and Maher will play longer than 15 mins and have a blinder - if he does no one will be more pleased than me.

| The Widnes loss you can accept as they are a decent team and more than capable of picking up wins but Barrow are poor and we had an extra days rest on them making this a very poor result. Team selection suggests that Grix took them lightly and it came back to bite him on the .We desparatley need two centres and another forward, the Cas DR has been a disaster and their morale must be shot so its going to be hard to bring anyone in that way but we just look to be ambling along.

| Oh dear, what an awful result. This should have been a win. The only compensation for me is that Bradford lost heavily to Keighley so we have moved up one place in the league.

| Well there's no sugar coating that performance/result, it was awful. Poor discipline, again. Powder puff forwards and wierd team selection. Take your pick. What is definate is we are going backwards on last season. Why, who knows? Meet do better. Duke of Edinburgh, Barrow. Lancaster Red 4.8% Mmm!

| Similar to several other displays concerning discipline, errors and territory with long periods spent in our own half especially after the interval but with Barrow on the rebound from the Batley game and midweek soul searching meeting we didn’t get away with it this time albeit by 4 points.
Keyes decision to go himself instead of putting the support in was a big chance wasted.
Time will tell how costly the lost 2 points are when the results are so up and down from a number of teams, in the space of a couple of weeks we beat Keighley, Bradford beat Sheffield, Keighley beat Bradford, Sheffield beat Toulouse, Batley hammer Barrow and Barrow beat Fax.

| Granted i'm not there but Barrow are not as bad as the league belies. I'm not surprised the backlash was against us. I think with the firmer ground then we win it pretty comfortably and I expect us to win comfortably next week. I still think on balance we will be fine on finishing top 4. I've said this before, it is clear the type of game Grix prefers. All I would say is, look at where we've been on winning runs in the last couple of seasons, especially last year. No guarantees of course. Agree on Doro, he's young but he needs to be playing more often. Grix needs to be looking at another like-forward in fact as I don't see where Gannon would bring anything. Sounded like Pickersgill had a horror moment which led to their winning try.

| We bombed 3 or 4 try scoring opportunities having bust the Barrow line. Barrow just wanted it more - they were looking for a reaction after the heavy defeat to Batley last week and they got it. Pickersgill had an OK game - looked lively but had an unlucky bounce of the ball having stopped the ball going into touch. Not sure who was involved in the brain fart moment for the equalising penalty for Barrow in the first half but the players need to stay switched on!! I'm really struggling to see what Maher brings to the team - 20 mins at the start and if he came back on I didn't notice. Somehow it seemed a particularly long drive home yesterday after that

| In the cold light of the day it isn't hard to see why we have struggled all season bar the Fev game. We are being outplayed and outfought in't forwards in every match. When we needed a score in the last quarter we could hardly get out of our own half which says it all really. Very poor! icon_mad.gif

Not finished third through pack dominance though have we,been weak there for a long time.To answer your question very quickly off top of my head.Springer and Grady should have been retained.Walshaw at Batley and Walker at Widnes if overseas is out of budget.Thinking outside the box,how about trying Gannon and Kavanagh in the centres, both have pace and would beef up the team.

I think the decision on recruiting smaller mobile props coincided with the 6 again rule , I liked springer but apparently had an attitude problem he was lazy in defence ( he was at fault when Moore should have scored against fev , specifically targeting him not getting back quick enough ) there’s only a few big props around, I like the London prop forgot his name now .

I wasn't there so won't have as good a view of the game as those that were - but looking at the highlights Keyes looked to have a couple of opportunities to pass for walk in tries - those are taken and no-one is probably complaining about the forwards. While I was sorry to see Springer go I can understand Grix's reasoning , sure we would have wanted to hang onto Grady but he wanted a club closer to home. As for Walker - even the Bulls were delighted to see him go. We will hopefully play a lot more games on decent fast pitches than current bogs over the course of the season and I'm still hopeful that the team we have is more than capable of doing well when we get them. The only forward we have that is more the traditional "winter rugby" type is Maher - who so far looks a waste of space.

There’s no doubt the pack could do with strengthening but we all know it’s easier said than done either with retentions as with Springer who refused to play the role he was asked to do which forced the move and Shane Grady as you say that wanted to move on before it got too late and finish his career with his former club.
Maher being brought in was exactly for the winter rugby type pitches, perhaps a bit harsh to say he’s a waste of space as being a bigger unit his plodding style clearly stands out against the more mobile of his team mates who’s own failings are just as evident whether he plays or not.
Away from the pack, most if not all the key moments on Sunday (the good and the bad) involved the backs and halves, they made the breaks and got the points and they made the errors and poor decisions and that’s the main reason we lost.
