Pert times teams and laying on a Monday. A very bad idea. Guys have work…… players will refuse play because of the detriment to their day jobs and I can’t claim them.
Why oh Why would the RFL consider this. Teams traveling to and from Cumbria, France,London All prt timers. F%#king madness.
The intention is to bring in extra revenue although nothing about the figures has been revealed.
In that sense you can understand why clubs would be interested in view of the reduction in central funding and the new Sky deal being only for SL clubs.
Apart from the funds coming directly from the TV deal I'm sure club sponsors both existing and new would be far more interested if they thought their companies / brand would be getting a few hours of TV exposure.
On the other hand some of the problems associated with Monday / mid week night games have already been mentioned and there will be a few more to add to that list.
So a sport that recognises its supporter base is reducing at an alarming rate opts for monday night fixtures with part time players
Absolute classic rugby league madness. If you are aiming to attract a younger audience who the hell will think oh yeah great let's whatch fax v london on a monday evening .
