I wondered how long it would take for the knives to come out for Richard this season.

We are 5 games into the season, and whilst we may not have set the world alight to me things are better than at the end of last season.

The Toulouse game is one we really should have won, and without the injuries before and during the game maybe it would have been different.

What is did highlight for me was the lack of quality at halfback. Scott didn't have his best game yesterday, but on his day can still be a devastating player at this level. Johnno on the other hand just does not cut the mustard for me. All he brings is the little scoot - and is that really effective on a day like yesterday??

To me we need to be looking to offload 2 or 3 players and bringing in someone of real quality. I don't think we are that far away - look at the difference O'Brien has made since he came in. But the half back situation is one that needs solving and quickly.

Think Marshall's made his mistakes, but he's a young coach, and to be expected (but not excused). We just don't have the quality of players, as the saying goes you can't 'polish a tuurd'. Recruitment has been poor, how much of this is down to Marshall I don't know. I'm not sure Daryl Powell could do much with this lot. Marshall has his faults but am just not sure how much is down to him - it all stems from the lack of cash and wider apathy around the club at the moment.

Gaz Moore wasn't Marshalls signing, that was down to Ian Croad. But recruitment aside you should still be able to coach players attacking structures/moves regardless of ability. Our attack is flat with no dummy runners and limited options, that ultimately comes down to poor coaching

D'ont like rumours that the coach has no influence on players brought in,it's unsettling and rarely true anyway.Moore was an excellent signing up until the bash last season.What's more previlent is what's happened to him since and why.Be interesting to hear GFB comments on your post.....

I dont know Mr Croad, but I believe we were told his position in recruitment is to manage the budget on behalf of the BoD not choose players. That is a very important position and one which ensures the club remains solvent.

If it's true he is choosing or influencing Richard for anything other than cost and available funds then there is something wrong as he probably hasn't the experience or skills set to add value in this area, despite all the excellent work he has done round the club over the years.

The other point I would make is that at least Richard fronts up after every game (agree with him or not) we hear nothing from our BoD unless they want our money. I wonder if the clique of fans that dine each week know more than the rest of us?

In all honesty though i can't imagine RM to be the type of coach who is going to let other people at the club sign players. The way I see it is for whatever reason we could not bring the players we wanted in but RM decided he still wanted another HB and Moore was probably the best that was available at that time. Its the first suggestion Ive seen to suggest that our BOD choose which players to sign though.

I bet there was more than a few doubts after the Summer Bash when he tore fev a new one. I know from a Fax fan point of view by that time I thought he was going to prove everyone wrong as we were flying high.

I understand the frustration but what do people really want the BOD to be saying? As fans we really have no right to know the inner workings of the club but because our club is now so small it feels like a small family and people think they have a right to know what is going on. Do fans of SL teams have any idea of the inner workings of their teams? People seem to forget the BOD are also Fax fans and they too are digging in to their pockets to try and help the club survive. As fans sometimes we have to do the same, and if people do not want to that is their choice and also fine.

I remember us debating this at length at the time fax signed him.
New club fans feels your coach will get the best out of him and will improve your club.

Value for money up to bash ,definate yes,unplayable at times Oldham away springs to mind.Seems like old issues have come back now and until this is resolved,he is of no value.

I don't think people appreciate the leap that RM took when joining us. He was very highly rated at Warrington and his job was secure. I doubt that hes on much more money (if any) now with us, and as the head coach his job security is out the window. Sports fans are fickle in general but reading this board sometimes I really despair.

Hes a young, inexperienced coach. He's not perfect, some of his signings have been very poor. But he's only going to improve as a coach, and he's already shown his value in his first season with us.

Give him time. Still think he's a decent coach and comes across very well in interviews. He cant help if the board lack ambition. I stated last season a player like Sammut could of transformed us into a top four team. Unfortunately we are not in a position to sign players of his quality. Our decision makers are not quite smart or good enough. Cant knock the forwards or backs. We just lack that quality in those key positions to make us a top four team.

Sorry Mr Sleaze but this is totally untrue. Richard wanted Gaz and Ian Croad went out and got him, effectively doing his job to recruit who the coach wants. Where these stories come from is beyond me.
