| I don't particularly like dual reg, but we have a small squad for next year, and any sort of injury and/or suspension crisis would be devastating. The fact that Salford are only running a first team next year is pretty short-sighted from their perspective, but in the dual reg world this should be good for us (if RM boxes clever) as it should be the genuine fringe players (those that didn't quite made the first team) that come available.
Success in the Championship world hangs on making the top 4 from a financial perspective, and if this deal can achieve that then it's fine by me.
The key (to repeat myself) in this deal is for RM to get Salford players on board that are just shy of getting into their first team. That way, they'll be keen to impress and up for it when they play for us. In the meantime, we need to continue developing our own youngsters so that they're battle-hardened for the end of the season when dual reg availability dries up.

| I suppose the success of duel registration is down to how it's applied by coaches. If done sensibly, there's no reason why young lads on the fringes of the Fax side should feel left out. Of course, it could always go the other way. While we are only running a first team we have quite a few youngsters knocking on the door of the first team, all of which will want to prove a point. Some of them got SL game time last season and they are all a pretty talented bunch.
There's no reason why it can't work for both clubs, but it will rely on Marshall and Watson to manage it correctly.

| Dual reg can work, if the stars are aligned and knee ligaments hold up on the right side of the reg.
i shall be optimistic and hope that Salford have 5 cracking mobile second rowers in form with solid knees and hamstrings and aren't prone to broken fingers or metatarsals, and that one of them needs extended game time with us.
You have to be realistic though, we can't rely on Dual Reg for anything, its an unknown that means little at this point.
Im not sure whether its beggars cant be choosers, or were too late to hook up with Wigan, Leeds or Saints, but part of me would prefer to have prospects learning their trade at Fax, rather than potentially someone not good enough to get in the Salford side.
it is what it is, ill try focus on the positive that we may just get the right player at the right time. Its sport, ya never know.

I make it 19 first team plus kids and that's including Brandon Moore as first team and Fairbank who there was/is a question mark over. The Salford player we had on loan last year never featured for whatever reason but he's still there now ??

| Sarsfield, played a few games but bottled it after telling everyone he were signing for Toronto on a massive contract but ended up signing for Swinton on reduced money.
I heard we were getting a decent young second rower for the season which should give us more options in the back of the pack where we are a bit short.

| I would rather we focus on developing our own young players and giving them chance to impress. All we are doing really is developing young players from Salford to their benefit. Don't see why we can't just loan players without entering a partnership. We must have a bit money in pot still after Haggerty and Manning left.

| I doubt they were on much over 10K between them. Probably struggle to bring in anyone to improve the team for that and saves the club some money.

| The reality is that unless the stay away fans turn up and the people of Halifax back professional rugby in the town then this is how its going to be. Survive or die! In an ideal world we wouldnt need to do this but Salford have been great with us and deserve a lot of credit. We have an opportunity to make our team stronger over the season and its my personal belief that we should do that at this time. All of our Halifax players will have the chance to stake their claim for a shirt and Richard will consider them first and foremost. If people dont like it then thats fine by me but we have to be competitive and most of all, realistic.
Quoting a fax director from facebook on dual reg--it's up to us supporters now....

Cant argue with the fact we are where we are, and the team is what we can afford, but..... the punt they made on bringing through young players needs to pay off, hindsight is 20/20 but perhaps we should have spent more on the first team squad and made a few middle 8's before we whacked a load of cash into mini buses and started losing kids to SL sides.
Anyway, the point is, people need something exciting to watch, you don't go out for a meal because the restaurant might serve decent food in 5 years time.
No pressure chaps, but the beds made, and fans didn't buy the linen or make it.
Im still hopeful we can be galvanised into something, or at worst the other sides have bad seasons.

| Its up to supporters is it? Who badly mismanaged a 700k windfall? Who ed off the council to the point they raised the rent?
Getting sick and tired of supporters been blamed for not turning up to the clown show that is this club. Marshall got the team working for a year and the club was given a perfect opportunity to build. Somehow in the space of 12 months our board managed to blow it all and have to cut costs to a level clearly worse that we were before 2015. Yet what do they do? Turn around and blame the fans for not turning up. It will be embarrassing to watch what Batley do with their increased funding, and it will be a third of what we got.
