Before the start of the season I asked Adam Robinson where he saw us finishing in the first part of this season. "Top four" was his reply.
It wasn't that I didn't believe him but after the last three seasons I thought it was optomistic.
Leigh, Fev, Eagles, Dewsbury, with Broncos and Bulls coming down.
Perhaps that's why my mate Charlie said 7th!
I think many of us were a little disappointed the way last season ended, shell shocked might be the correct word.
Same players, this year as last, all Karl's signings, wouldn't it have been better if Richard had been able to pick his own squad we asked.
Wouldn't it have been better if he had arrived a little before the end of the season we asked.
We struggled early, I know should, or if don't count but we should have won at London, we had the chance to beat Leigh at least once and we could have beaten Bulls at Blackpol.
As regulate readers wil, remember I am a permanent optomist, but I honestly didn't think top four.
Often wrong, that's me.

Spot on HJ. I honestly thought we were playing mid table rugby for the first part of the season but this winning run at the back end of the season has just made us all very proud to be Fax fans. There is no pressure on us in the middle 8 comp but certainly will be some additional revenue and hopefully a lure for some classier players to join in the Fax revival.

And we are LIVING THE DREAM.

I think some of us had hopes, we always do but after not picking up a win in our first encounters with the top teams makes it even more of an achievement.

It goes further than finishing in the top 4.

Whatever happens in the 8's this time round there's been more achieved in setting a solid platform to take us beyond just this season than previously done in years.

To all at the helm at Fax, a big well done.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is the financial consequences of guaranteeing a top four spot . I'm sure someone posted that fourth spot gets a minimum of £500k. So automatically that's at least £250k more than what the BOD would have budgeted for . Also the three games more we have at home this season against super league opposition will surely mean bigger gates for us . Even with a conservative estimate I think we should have an extra £300k for next season. Interesting what the club does next . Spend it all next year , spread it over a couple of seasons , the board have some thinking to do.

Good question Rickster. Few pointers for me would be to ringfence our star talent by giving them improved contracts to build team around them and keep SL clubs (and Leigh!

) away from us. I would also hope the board don't push for all their money they have ploughed in back straight away. Am guessing these will be loans to the club. Finally I would look to add a couple of proven 'class' players who can add to the team. Wouldn't be wholesale changes for me.This team has something special in terms of playing for each other, team spirit etc. Success breeds success so let's hope the BOD act wisely.
