| Announced in today's Courier.
Dual Reg, but with Fax choosing who they want to use, not Rovers telling us who we have to have!
Let's hope this is the way it works. Still not a fan of Dual Reg, but as is stated, it may be the only way to bridge the gap to the full time teams.

| Reading both articles, it sounds like dual reg with a twist of common sense. I don't like dual reg in its current form but this seems different.
The coaches know each other very well and I like the idea of the liaison officer in Netherton. It could work.

| Bold progressive move by the BOD, Well done. It won't please everyone but it will help us bolster our squad when needed and give our younger players opportunities in a competitive Lower league.

| The most interesting thing is not what massive hyprocrites you now are but what happens if Hull KR are in the middle 8 with yourselves

| I hope it works.
It seems that it is being done on our own terms. Importantly, the coaches have sat down and discussed those terms. Marshall is his own man.
The implications for the Middle 8 are more interesting...what will happen if Hull KR are in the bottom 4...which there is every chance of happening.

| If Hull KR are in the middle 8 with us, then the DR has worked because without it the odds appear to be heavily stacked against us, yourselves Fev, Sheffield and us are probably scrapping for one place, at the moment we would be third favourites.
We wouldn't of course get any DR players for the game against HKR.
I'd rather we didn't go down this route but as mere supporters what can we do if we don't like it? Whinge, whinge and not go, carry on going and whinge, or just reluctantly accept it.

Accept it, don't whinge as that can't change the situation. As the song said " I ant going to stop the rain by complaining. " I have my season ticket and new shirt and will be supporting my team Halifax RLFC. Come on the Fax!! can't wait for next season

| This is how it should be....
Although Rovers will offer players to Gateshead and Halifax, the receiving club will always retain the option of whether or not to play any dual-registered player.

| Why Hull KR though? Who they gonna send us? Second rate Aussies filling their pension? Not exactly renowned for their youth development are they?
Worst thing. We would be as big, if not bigger, a club than them if Fat Nige hadnt f****d it all up for us. We've certainly fallen hard

| Just when I thought the board were listening to the fans. Just shows they really don't give a rats ass what the fans think. Let's see if they start listening when crowds drop below 1000 because they have just alienated a large portion of the core supporter base. Dumb dumb decision

| Why on earth have we decided to sell ourselves out? We are Halifax RLFC so why do we want to team up with Hull KR and as Freddie's wig has said who are they going to send us, some aussie who has been injured and they want him to get back to fitness?! was really looking forward to this season as well but this has really tainted it now.

Didn't the RFL deny permission for overseas players to play under dual reg last season?
You may be surprised at the quality of some of the young players coming through Hull KR's youth system.

| The BoD have not sold out and the crowds won't go below 1000. Why? Because the real fans will support the BOD decision. May not agree fully but we have taken note from the clubs who used it badly and I think it will work for a us. We are working with Chris Chester, a man whohas Fax close to his heart.
If you want to stay away do so, your the ones damaging the club but don't keep coming on here say how sh#t in is or commenting on next season when you haven't seen fax play. The has to do things to try move fax forward and few things may upset some folk. Don't be a keyboard warrior sitting there spurting c##p. Support the club not your inflated options

| I think some fans are deluded about how big a club we are. We have been in the 2nd tier for 11 seasons and got nowhere near SL, we are pulling in less than 1500 fans (whilst doing as the fans wished, and not using DR) and don't have the financial clout to compete with 4 clubs in our division, let alone the 4 we would play against should we make the Mid-8.
Perhaps the club deciding to take us in to a DR agreement is more of a reality check of our circumstances, than a case of ignoring the fans.
If it worked out, and brought us success, would the fans whinge as much, supporting a winning team with DR players. Would they balls. We crave success. I don't see much difference in signing championship journeymen for a season and playing players we don't own. Our own player development path has hardly been a roaring success!

| It obviously comes down to the judgement of the board and they are the ones looking at the income and balance sheet. I'm still not convinced about the merits of doing this but I'm not the coach or a Director - they are closer to the mechanics of how the game works at this level and to them it must feel like the right time to do this. What happens of one of their DR's has a storming first half of the season and becomes pivotal to our campaign and then (by miracle of miracles) we end up in the middle eight with HKR? Surely they'd withdraw him from our squad?
I'm yet to be convinced BUT still hugely looking forward to 2015. I think the game at this level is about to change dramatically - for the good and with teams with Bradford's reputation and Leigh's meteoric rise I think the comp will offer far more than it has ever done. We need to be in the mix and if the board think this type of direction will help establish our position then for now I'm trusting their judgement.

I agree. I dont think Fax have had any choice but to 'play the game' to try and have a chance of getting back into SL. Its not fair to blame the BOD for having to take part in the mess which has been created by years of mishandling of the game by the powers that be.

| It seems there is more involved in this link up other than players, including the commercial side of things with a lot of behind the scenes discussions having taken place.
It will all depend on the terms and conditions and you can bet that these will be the right ones for Fax otherwise we would not be involved.
DR is here not by our choice and will be used against us by our rivals, if we can make a deal that benefits us why not do so.
What we do know from the past few years is having no overseas players and by avoiding the DR route we have not been able to make any progress and it will be harder to do so from now on, we either make a well thought out move now or get left further behind.
Someone has to make the difficult decisions and the BOD have done, now it’s down to us to decide to back them or not.

| As Bubba suggests above, this is what happens when one division is heavily loaded in favour of four teams.
The danger now is that we see the same four teams in the top four year in year out because of the financial advantage they enjoy. We are up against three full time squads next year and probably a fourth the year after when Fev finish top 4 again.
If the board don't find a way to bridge the gap then we face being a lower championship team whose most realistic route out of the division will be through relegation.
The new structure is a disaster for all the clubs outside the well funded sixteen clubs.

By your logic we should have merged with Bradford when super league was founded. Progress at all costs eh, smart thinking.
As a 'real fan' of 40 years I'm entitled to my opinion. Supporting one club for that long also gives you a grounding in good and bad decisions at the club and there have been many. Even though I now live overseas I still spend a significant chunk of my hard earned on merch and attend games every time I'm back home. That alone gives this 'keyboard warrior' the right to express my opinion so if you don't like it then use your rose tinted specs to read comments you like.
