Its a strange one this imo, if a part time lad likes a bet and bets on RL games not involving himself and has not been given any inside info is that a problem?
I suppose you can get info from other players at other clubs but that happens in racing all the time.

Does seem tough when a player has a bet on a game he hasn't competed in however in this instance it seems Rob has been naive in the extreme as I believe he has betted on matches in which he has played in . Although cleared by the RFL on anything inappropriate it does leave him open to all sorts of accusations so a ban is right. I suppose it is right and that no player should bet on a sport he is involved in because a player could have inside information on injuries etc. Damn shame mind you as Rob would always be in my side .

Gutted for Rob! Rules are rules and I'm sure he's devastated. Great to see the club standing by him. Hopefully he can keep himself fit and integrated with the team and back stronger than ever next year.

Which on the face of it seems harsh, but, anyone suspended by their employer wouldn't expect to turn up for work on Monday Morning.

I think Gareth Hock had similar terms when he was banned.

Rob is an athlete, I'd be very surprised if he was to let himself fall into an unfit state. I'd expect him to come back fitter and stronger tbh.

Its a shame, but something must have gone off which was against the rules, so hard to argue with it.

Think Rob got off lucky just like the two Batley lads did. Shean Leaf didnt bet on any games that he was involved in and they gave him 18 months. Possibly because the Su* newspaper made a big song and dance about it. But as stated rules are rules but the punishment should not differ that much.

Rob has been stupid and not used his brain. Its hardly the first time this has happened and if unsure he should have asked if it was OK. Good to see the club sticking by him but he owes the club and fans big time for me.

Rob played for Wheatley Hills Rugby Union this weekend against the Crocs- according to the Courier.

I'm guessing that the stakes involved (reputedly "small"icon_wink.gif were a material factor in a relatively short ban. Albeit that it effectively means the end of the season for Rob. I can't see why he'd not be able to train with the team or take part in the game day activities? Has he just been banned from playing, or is it a more draconian situation. Shame if it is, because he's an enthusiastic guy, and it would still be good to have him round the place. That said, his choice as well to a degree, as I guess he'll not be getting paid.

Hope he comes back fitter, stronger and more enthusiastic than ever next season - for us. Plenty of time to practice catching the ball as well (sorry Rob, if you read this!!).

I guess we find out now if he really is in KH`s plans because after the latest news they could easily rip his contract up for gross misconduct if they wished.
