I'm posting this in case any fans are watching this item for sale on eBay and thinking of buying it. Can I just warn you to think twice.
I got in touch with the seller to ask whether they were able to authenticate the shirt. Their response was as follows:
'Its a true Halifax shirt which was worn in the the 87 cup run and was given to me bye dick Fairbank. It's worn with no rips or ground in stains and I've had loads ov interest and only just put up for sale. It will sell and I could get more quite easily but wanting it to go to a fan really.'
After hearing how it had been personally handed to him I must admit I kind of thought of making an offer.
I noticed tonight that the shirt had come down from £150 to £75. I then also noticed a previously watched item that was sold on eBay a few weeks ago as follows.

In my opinion it's the same shirt with just the tag taken off. The creases on the number 12 are identical and the faded sponsors logo is identical too.
I challenged the seller tonight and gave them the chance to revise the item. A chance they have chosen not to take. Instead they have chosen to partake in some poorly spelt jibes.
Look. It might be the real thing, it might not. I'd have thought any shirt from that era would have been closely protected by the club.
Make up your own minds but I just want to make sure any 'real fans' think twice before paying their hard earned cash to this seller.
