Just got back from a very productive meeting.
Topics were firstly Michael Steele, re rent then the new structure with Q and A's with both Him and Karl.
Would like to digest what was said and perhaps respond tomorrow.
One thing I would say is the rent issue is nothing to worry about and us being resolved. My personal opinion is that we/ I should not comment on an ongoing dispute until it is resolved.
As I have said on previous occasions I trust out board without doubt.
Remember a freedom of information only answers a question, it isn't required to explain the circumstances.
In the board we should trust.

The rent dispute was discussed and basically revolves around us paying a lot less that what HT do and this has been going on for a while now after the council broke a promise that was made to both clubs. An offer was put forward to the council today.

The new structure was discussed along with the ins and outs of the money relating to the deal and how it will be split. KH commented that although there is essentially promotion and relegation again he does not think any team has a chance of getting in to SL from our division unless they have a wealthy benefactor a sentiment echoed by Michael Steele.

Again it was stressed how important it is to finish in the top two to get the extra funding for 2015. On that note we were told that both Fev and Leigh will break the salary cap this season although any punishment will not happen until 2015 if that did turn out to be the case.

Liam Finn signed a contract with Fax in August 2013, a document that the club still have. The ins and outs of how he got out of it were not discussed.

KH was waiting to hear back from a players agent on bringing a player in on loan. The player played in SL at the weekend but also mentioned Worrincy is recovering quicker than expected.

KH said that he does not dislike overseas players but MS said there were a lot of stipulations in getting them to the club that made it a pain in the butt.

Nigel Wood was distictly unhappy about MS comments to the papers about the new structure.

So basically, we're struggling to play at the level we are at. We probably won't be able to chase the top two so will lose that income and then not make the middle 8 so attendances will be falling even further. At least the board aren't fobbing us by saying they think promotion is virtually impossible so not to get hopes up.

But how do the Fax Board know that the two clubs mentioned will do and why was it suggested if it turned out to be the case ?

Indication is that it is a guess not a fact.

I thought MS was complimentary about the new structure? Why would Nigel be unhappy? And was the salary cap comment a passing sarcastic comment or an accusation?

Hi! For the purpose of factual information Michael (the Board) didn't say that they had broken the salary cap, he suggested that they may or may not have when questioned on the matter by I believe Mick Stansfield. So as you say it might well be conjecture.

I would imagine its a mix of both speculation and insider knowledge. I wouldn't be surprised if Leigh and Fev aren't exactly been quiet about it. Whatever the punishment next year, they would be taking a points deduction as a full time team in a part time league. Chances are they will be able to absorb the 2-4 or even 6 point deduction and still be in the top 4.

Seriously, thanks for the feedback from attendee's. I didn't even consider attending for various reasons so i for one appreciate these comments, so long as they're correct ! As i understood things, we're paying supposed to be paying more than the other ground sharers.

Anyone who doubts the integrity of our b.o.d. need to give their heads a shake & re-think because Mr. Steele, Mr Abbott & their colleagues have fronted up to their supporters/sponsors/rate-payers twice recently. Credit to them.

Well done the board for being honest about things. As usual, the lies and misinformation coming from the lowlife luddites is just that. The luddites are a waste of good skin and bone and should concentrate on their own club, instead of thinking everything bad about the biggest sporting club in Halifax. Regarding the rent, even with the Shop, its wrong that Fax pay well over 1000 pounds more, especially when we pay half the games and dont ruin the pitch as much (Look at the state of the penalty box area for wear and tear at various pitches) as the Pubteam. The Councils lack of money and doint things propelry regarding the pitch has cost both clubs alot of money. The Council has a responsibilty to make the pitch playable and not see the clubs cancelling many games due to the lack of proper drainage at the Shay. The Club for me are right in withholding rent payment until things change.

The new system is a joke and I cant see it benefiting Fax much as what Mr Steele says seems to confirm that for me. If Mr Wood and the RFL are unhappy ,then good! Them clowns have ruined our game and need telling that face to face.

I am glad we are not busting a gut, like Leigh and Fev to finish in the top 2. I think it could be more of a curse than a reward finishing in the top 2 in some ways. If any club is foolish enough to break the salary cap then thats their problem not ours.

Our owner has just stated we should be able to get another top drawer signing in under the cap if needed later in the season

Also just finished doing a feasibility study to move back into Hilton Park to enhance our iconic credentials, but in the meantime can we borrow them buckets for May just in case

Well as I couldn't attend last night fully appreciate people's overviews. My mind is at ease and our BOD have certainly put to bed for me any fears I had about being skint. Just wish they could've said something a bit sooner but fully understand the need to be cautious.....

All just reads to me like the directors and coach are getting their excuses in early. If anyone has reason to believe that a club is breaching the cap or planning on doing so they should speak to the appropriate authority, not make potentially defamatory comments in the public realm.
