| How is he paid to play rugby? Stealing a wage! Surely Freddie Walker would be a better option!

Why pick on one player? at one stage both he and Tyrer were complaining they were not getting the ball. no one shone tonight but to pick out one player is just plain stupid.
Game plan? five drives one hopeful kick. Where do wingers fit in with that?

I have no ax to grind about Rettie, it just seams stupid to me to attack one player, like you say Tyrer made a stupid pass, But then, Thackrey kicked on the first tackle, Manning spannered someone when there was no need and gave a penalty, Rob kicked from 3 yards out in the first half when we all thought he might use his strength, etc etc, as a team we were poor, one man doesn't lose a game.
And? no one has yet mentioned the coach, what sort of game did he have?

True but we aint beating anybody with our lets batter em type rugby as the opposition are starting to knock us down by targeting our legs and its working, we seem obsessed with going upstairs in our tackles. 3 soft tries tonight I never thought we would go soft on our defence but we have.
We need to try using dummy runners as we play this one man coming onto the ball stuff and its easy to read, I feel sorry for Luke ambler he works his socks off as do most of the pack but they just get smashed as teams are ready for them its so predictable.

| How on earth can you pick on the winger in a game dominated by a small pitch and kicking game by half backs?
If there is one area where we need improving its in the centres to get the wingers away one on one.Our plan A is obviously down the middle but not having a strike centre(s) means we have no plan B. Half backs will be fine if they get some go forward once all our strike players are fit. Let's see what the end of the season brings before all you people who have never played the game or the older I am the better I was brigade comment please.Yours 40 years player and coach. Keep the faith.

| We didn't lose because of Wayne tonight, and tbh he made some decent yards for us. Wingers depend on some quality ball from the centres, and this part of our game just ain't happening at the moment. It's disappointing that a player of his build can't make more of an impact on the run, but get off the guy's back with some of the comments on this thread, which are unfair and a tad ridiculous imo.

Isn't it the usual thing when we hit a bad spell to round on one or two I dviduals within the team?
Few years ago everyone was on Calland's back. Pretty sure last year someone was getting grief. Lately everything, according to posters on here, is the fault of reittie and the ashall brothers.
I've not seen last nights game so can't comment on that. But a couple of bad games doesn't make a player a bad player.
As supporters we can either sit back and criticise. Which at fax we're quite good at. Or we can support our team. When we had less injuries a bad performance would have led to players been dropped. Now we are reportedly down to 18 fit players, there's no one else to come in. I'm not saying the players aren't trying as a result. But there's no alternative so we can't really complain.

| I think most of the team looked out of sorts last night and to single out one player is a bit unfair to be honest!!
Just hope that the knock Tonka picked up on his knee isn't too serious and we don't have another long term injury

Far be it for me to slag off Nat but he has offered an alternative positional selection ! At least Nat has done that but i certainly don't agree with the comment he made regarding Reittie.
I think, regarding Reittie's injuries he's made remarkable progress to be playing such a physical game as rugby league so soon after the injuries were sustained, I can imagine he's relieved to be playing again bu very nervous as well. I don't wish to criticise the performance of individuals but unless I heard Harrison wrong, he said we were down to 17 fit players in the pre match interview. That sort of speaks for itself considering Paterson's last two bench selections & the gametime he's had.
Nice to know we're all pulling in the same direction anyway......

| I don't think we can blame Wayne Rettie for signing for the club and getting picked
Ok he hasn't offered much in attack and the ball seems like a bar of soap to him at times but he gives his best and gets stuck in. The backs in general are feeding off scraps when Murrell isn't playing and possibly aren't in the best of form either, its probably better to be constructive and focus on the fact that Freddy is a cracking prospect and we'd like to see him playing. I do agree that the younger Ashall is livelier at hooker, but Craig had a cracking run at loose forward last year and supported well and scored tries, hes been playing out of position to my mind so cant be lambasted too much for that. It looks to me like we hit form, got a little complacent, had key injuries and our squad is being tested in the areas where cover is not as strong as we would like. Heatons looking more comfortable, Thacks is too, Tiger at hooker distributed well a month ago, Murrell looks class, Tonka is immense, Ambler is unsung, Divorty and Manning are a very good second row pairing, if we could just get Nanyn and Morrison fit, throw Freddys dynamic running into the mix, we could still have a year to remember, its better to have the blip now rather than at the business end of the season.
Im mainly disappointed for the club, we could have really used a cracking Challenge cup home draw and NR Cup final to add to the coffers and get some good press.
Fingers crossed the players and coaches will have seen what we can do when we play with commitment, urgency and accuracy like in the final 15mins, we nearly got out of jail.

| Unfair to pick out any one person from that game especially a winger who had hardly any quality ball all night.
From listening to KH it would appear that some of the players on the pitch are not following the game plan and for whatever reason decide to do their own thing.
That's probably why it looks so disorganised and off the cuff at times because it is.
We get frustrated, It must be as frustrating as hell for the coach for slightly different reasons.
Like us he was not a happy man at the end and I think there will be few getting a reality check this week.
At the moment through injuries there are not a lot of options and another big test awaits against the Eagles.
All makes for a typical season in the life of a Fax fan.

| Having finally plucked up courage to re-watch the game, I think that instead of blaming Wayne, think of the disallowed try due to a high tackle resulting in a penalty to Dewsbury, and a further 2 pts from another high tackle both committed by one of our players, were crucial turning points in the match. We did not play well but on second viewing we could have won, discipline cost us on Thursday night.

| I don't think Reittie should be anywhere near the team but he wasn't to blame for losing on Thursday night.
We need to put Handforth back at hooker. His legs have gone and is simply too slow for half-back but at dummy half he gets the forwards making yards and comes up with some clever plays.

So you think someone who's *legs have gone* is the answer at dummy half in the modern game ?
I'd have have to strongly question that myself. I'd say the fact that Karl Ashall was signed & Craig Cook trialled was giving us an insight into how we intend to recruit. Seemingly, the loss of Penky has created a bigger problem than we hoped for. I'm not saying we should have moved heaven & earth to keep Sean but key for me at the moment is Murrell's injury, he's the one who makes us tick, hence the re-shuffling.
Could I suggest Bowman given some gametime at 9 ?
I don't see anyone out there who would be available to recruit into the squad.
