technically not true as some teams get promoted to the division you won so in effect you do play differant teams the following season. |

The vital difference being that Leigh retained membership of the RFL at all times. Oh and we didn't owe the taxpayer £100m. |

Neither do Rangers, having won their court case.
Retained membership ? Hmm .... the newco had to be approved but there wasn't such a song and dance as there was in Scotland last year, I'll grant you. The fact is, Matt, that pretty much every club has undergone some legal transformation over their existence. |

No, Barrow won the NL2 (as it was) and got promoted straight away without entering the playoffs, York came second IIRC |

Playing at the same ground in front of the same fans. Right. 
I don't buy these "new clubs" at all. Personally, I think the unchanging part of a club is its fanbase. Corporate entities change, club names change, grounds change, players change, directors change, back room staff change. Fans - give or take a few births and deaths - don't. Fans are the most important part of the club. 
I didn't see Hunslet as a new club when they novated and I haven't seen fit to change my view at any of the changes that happened since.
And, of course, people are wont to say that we have a new club - or not - depending on which option proves their point. |
