How the hell can anyone expect a fully focused team, playing for each other, when some already know they are leaving or not wanted next season and some are already signed and in a comfort zone.

It only takes 2 or 3 players with other things on their minds to destroy the team spirit and they certainly looked like their minds were elsewhere.

Yes, we've been unlucky with injuries but, on paper, the team we put out should have been able to give Sheffield a game at least if not actually win it.

I can always accept losing but the manner of the defeat was totally unacceptable. Every time our attendances start to climb something like this happens and we're back to square one. We need to build and maintain momentum!

Totally agree,this stupid July 1st rule must go.Theres plenty of time Sept-Jan to sort following year contracts.No club should be allowed to contact any other until their season is over.

Thing is this way you then risk losing out on any decent players who ahve by then already sorted out their next club and contract.

Ye you can't stop other clubs from interfering unfortunately, but I agree it can completely ruin a team with the prime example being Giants...

Whilst it can ruin a teams prep, it can also settle a team knowing that the replacements are hired leaving minimal effect on a teams profile.
We know Tangi is leaving, as is Dom and Micky Haley. Getting suitable players in place early on gives the coaching team more prep time.
It's part of the game and the mark of the coach to manage such situations

The way Dom played against Leigh, you would never know he was leaving. certainly wasn't just going through the motions. His best game of the season in my opinion.

On the other hand in the same game tangi had by far the worst game of any player in a fev shirt this season lol.

Slightly different though. Dom is leaving to go in the army, his choice so will want to go out on a high. Not going to another club.

I believe Tangi is also leaving voluntarily because of his wife's career.

My own view is that there are more cons than pros and would like it to be done away from the regular season if at all possible.
Which would be a reasonable time from when the season ends to when pre season starts again.

I want us to play a more expansive game not what we saw for most of this season, too many one man drives then a kick.
We also need to be smarter in defence which was a huge shock with Karl in charge, our line defnece was very poor most of the season.
And no I am not wanting to go back to the Calland era, but we have been similar to that as we have been too inconsistent.
How I envy Fev fans as how consistemt have they been - for THREE years now!

They have been consistent BUT if Sheffield beat them next week the history books won't record their dominance.

Couldn't agree more Richie. Our CV looks good this last 3 years and (banter/argument) aside I still regard finishing top merits the title champs - and last year we managed to win the GF (which is how the RFL decide who's champs) and as such we were 'undisputed' champs.
I fear that unless we do win the GF, our return for the investment and dominance over the last three years is in question.
Saying that, yes.. it's great being a rover after all those years staring down the gary glitter!

Good post mate, i'm a FEV fan and we know that when you get your line speed right you are a very good side as the NRC final proved. Your line speed that day was as good as i've seen from a Fax side for ages. As for your season in general, ya gotta say it's been pretty good, just ran out of gas at the back end. You've made some good signings for next year but i do agree with some of your posters that you need better half backs. Thackeray is a one trick pony and Tiger is just too inconsistent.
