| I was there!! Stood in the "rivers of pizz". It was like a lemonade fountain down those terraces. 91,000 there. Bloody fantastic. All of it, from Leicester Forest East Services to Wembley and back to Arden Road Social Club to watch it all again on video replay.
THE happiest day of my life !!! (And I'm married!!)
Two days later - Town Hall reception and Town Centre clogged with Fax fans. Alzheimers will NEVER take those memories away!!!
UP THE FAX!!!!!!!

Correct. My Brother had a massive Wembley banner saying "Happy Birthday Chris".

| I was 14 at the time too and the whole day is a bit of a blur. In my 5d togs blue and white Fax shirt, scarf and Wembley flat cap (bought outside Wembley - still have it - got it signed by Chris Anderson, Graham Eadie and David Brook outside the Town Hall).
I think I got one of the supporters coaches down but I can't remember if they left from Thrum Hall or the old bus station. I remember the banter and rugby league fans taking over Leicester Forest services.
Will we ever see the like again?

| Soooo many memories from that day;
Fax fans on the roof of the pub just off Wembly way tying flags to the chimney
That Fax fan who always wore the lion costume dancing round some Saints fans
Eadies try etched on the memory
The Fax fan who fell asleep in the bogs and missed the whole thing
Getting a little too excited near the end of the game and waving my flag soo vigorously I jammed it in the side of the blokes head next to me
Coach load of weeping Saints fans
Ahhh, those were the days

| Yep, great final and the turning point was Leyther Pendleburys tackle on Elia. He then went on to pop over the winning DG !
As I have said on a previous thread though, Fax should have played Leigh. We got robbed in the semi v Saints. Now that would have been some final !!!

Nah. It would have been all over by half time. OK, my nerves wouldn't have been shot to pieces but it was better for us that we beat the favourites instead of us beating the massive rank outsiders.

Fax would be 16-6 up at half time.
Leigh fight back with fax levelling it up with a Colin Whitfield penalty with 10 seconds to go.
The first final to go into golden point, Leigh then pressure Halifax more with Ridyar...................... sorry, John Kerr slotting over a cheeky drop goal to win it 19-18 for the Leythers.
Same score, but the cherry and whites pinch it. If only ................
Good days, and in my opinion, RL was in a far healthier state. Used to love going to Thrum Hall, and having a few pints in the cricket club with 1500 or so loony rugby fans coming over the pennines for the craicicon_sad.gif !!

Not quite, the drop goal came before the tackle.

| Just about sobered up 25 years ago.
Great time, vaguely remember walking down George's Square from Plummet with CCup under my arm on the way to Foggy's or somewhere.
Great times and it really felt as if the whole of the town was a part of it.

| Fantastic day and one I'll never forget!! We went down on one of those chartered trains from Halifax! Superb day. I remember the chap on the cross bar at half time dancing on it!! Plus does anybody else remember those special edition American jackets the club got made with theclub badge on a big square at the front and you zipped it on?? Plus we lived opp Thrum Hall and followed the bus down to town!! My dad drove a big wagon so it stood out a bit but I had a great view!! Then to see the thousands outside the Town Hall...... Unbelievable and I'll never forget it!
