| Very sad to read (League Express) Mark Aston is ready to walk away from the game due to the RFL. Personally while I dont like the bloke I respect the work he has done for the game and Sheffield. He is League through and Through. He is unhappy with the RFL in a few areas including the Disciplinary setup. To qoute "This great game is being killed by the RFL and it is making people who love the game disillussioned and I am one of them. I am looking at other things away from the game"
I think Aston speaks for many fans and people with in the game. Last week John Stankovitch the Rochdale Hornets coach was also saying he isnt happy with the RFL. Looks like we could be seeing the mighty arrogant empire falling apart thanks to the idiots at Red Hall. Must say I have had enough of the game and the way I have been treated by people who are connected with the RFL/RLEF. The way the championship clubs are often treated and the way SL and the game in general is run shows that things are not right and people are getting fed up-that cant continue. For me things have to change and a massive cleanout is needed with fresh people in who respect others and are not their just for their own egos.

| Aston is using the citing of his two players after the Eagles game at Cougar Park as the basis of his complaints with the RFL.
Having seen the tackle 'live' plus in slo mo and still format from the match video I cant see where Aston has any way to complain . It was an horrendous spear tackle that Michael Korkidas was lucky to walk away from uninjured. Whether it was intentional or not , the potential for a life threatning injury was there for all to see.
There may be arguments over the RFL's disciplinary system but Astons bleatings were pretty pathetic ..

| I saw the tackle on the match highlights video posted on the Cougars forum.
One of the worst spear tackles I have ever seen - I can't believe the players involved didn't get sent off on the day
What would Aston be saying if it had been one of his players on the receiving end??

| Aston is a tool as we all know. I have not seen the tackles but sounds very bad. But he also goes on to criticize the RFL regarding help getting visas etc. Interesting thing is more and more people within the game are firing shots at the RFL which never used to be the case as everybody just toed the party line. I can see the WC being a farce next year as well. Whitehaven games now been moved elsewhere due to stadium issues. What a poor administrative setup. I bet Fax and other clubs have little say on the games played at their grounds and the RFL will do poor marketing and then blame clubs for not doing enough

| The guy is a moron simple as. I agree that it probably wasn't a grade C offence but if every coach started bleating the would walk away from the game about decisions that went against them there wouldn't be coaches left. The Stanky complaint was slightly different as that was directly at himself not a decision during the game.

| I couldn't care less about Tubbs or Sheffield Eagles in all honesty, they've been one of the sport's takers rather than givers, sure I felt sorry for them over the merger with Huddersfield & was delighted for them when they won the challenge cup, but them playing all those years at the DV really deterred me from going to games over there, I've watched a game at Hillsborough v Saints & I've watched games at Owlerton, and as recent as last season I watched us get our pants pulled down at Bramhall Lane in the play-offs and they clearly were the best team that day but for such a large pulling area I don't see how the club has evolved too much. Having been involved locally in our junior game at various levels & got to know a few of the equivalents at Sheffield/Hillsborough Hawks I feel for them as individuals 'cos there are some good people involved, but how are they ever gonna pull decent crowds in ?

What a load of nonsense, everyone the club have done since being reformed has been thanks to the directors, the RFL haven't helped in any way. Regardless of what you think of him, rugby league can't afford to lose people who have worked as tirelessly as he has to develop the sport. I dont think for one minute he will walk away, I think he is just fed up with the lack of support from the RFL on a number of matters, including the mess over the travel plans down to France last week.

Perhaps he could send threatening texts like he did with one of your ex-players. Joker of a club ambassador.

| To be honest I have no love for Sheffield Eagles, The Don Valley stadium was bad enough, but Bramble Lane? A soulless ground with two dirty pubs next door. We always go and always get insulted. I would rather go to traditional ground such as Batley Fev, Barra, wish we were going to Barra this year, brilliant Wetherspoon near by.
Incidentally I went to the last ever Yorkshire CCC game at Bramble Lane.
County Championship games then were 3 days, I took 2 days holiday off work and as it went to very exciting third day called in sick and went to the match. Yorkshire won in the afternoon and Keith Macklin interviewed a few Yorkshire Members including me about the end of Cricket in Sheffield. On the six o'clock news that night, not a very welcoming morning from my boss next day?
