| Mr Fetherstone....Stuart Dickens with 15 years at the club. No arguments so far
....it would be the biggest day of his life....Forget those Championship Grand Finals....
Happy to be wrong to those that feel different, but winning a game in a competition that they've got no realistic chance of winning V's winning the top trophy at their level? Wigan would be a great scalp and a great grandkids tale but finals, trophy's and team celebrations got to win surely??

| Winning those Grand Finals and getting promotion would have been even better but hey!
And apparently this will all help with their Dooper League bid - my butt.

| it appears the offender was turfed out of the ground - by the rovers fans stood by him!!!
That aside it was a fabulous night enjoyed by both sets of fans. We had a right go at them and ruffled their feathers at one bit. Fev had a right crack at them and if fax had played as well against one of the best teams in the country and cup holders, I would have applauded them all the way! - and have been pleased to do so - rather than focussin on how legal the tries were!!!!
but that did amuse me!

Didn't think there was anything wrong with the first one. Everyone tries to clamp the ball in the tackle but it to be a steal the defender has to make a ripping action etc which he didn't, it was just muddy and greasy and popped out like soap.

Didn't think there was anything wrong with any of Fev's first 2 tries, the first try the Fev player was just making a tackle, it was the resposibility of the wigan player to keep hold of the ball, the only one that looked a bit dodgy was the second try (think it was Ian Hardman?!) but on the replays it showed he picked the ball up cleanly and I thought he still had control of the ball when he got it over the line (should have deffinatley been given the benifit of doubt) So that was a try in my opinion.
I think one of the big turning points in this game was mid way through the second half when there was 6 points in it, Fev kicked the ball down field, the wigan player clearly knocked on when he went to pick the ball up, I don't know how the lines man missed it, he was staring write at it, and then the tackle later Wigan got a penalty for ball stealing and I think they scored off that set. Think that try took the game away from them.
Great effort by Fev, you put in a dam good performace and did the championship proud!!!

| Nothing wrong with Raynors try either, ok the tackle before was a ball steal but how far do you want to go back?
Great effort from Fev and i was cheering them on. Hopefully it will have taken a lot out of them and we can take advantage of that as we should have an `easier` game on Sunday.

True Cushy. BUT, you fail to add that if we play like we did against Swinton Fax will batter us. And without Tangi, Matty Dale, Tommy and Hardo - and recovering from a game which will have absolutely knocked 7 bells out of the lads, the task against Fax is looking increasingly more difficult.
We nearly blew it v Swinton. Thump ya tub if you want but I'm not that confident.

Leigh had a similar situation 10 years ago. Getting pipped by Wigan in the CC QF and 10k packed into Hilton Park, unbeaten in the league only to get mullered 34-4 at home the following week.
Fev were superb last night just for the defence alone. If Fax have a start next week though, I think they will win.

| The video ref was spot on. Lockwoods tackle was fine Gelling should have secured the ball better, the way he held the ball going into contact was very poor technique. Thought Lockwood was outstanding, hes done really well for himself considering he was playing in the Pennine League not so long back.
Wigan also got away with a lot, not playing the ball properly throughout, forward passes from acting half, hocks elbows flying everywhere and O Loughlin constantly moving off the mark before playing the ball.
Well done Fev.

Sounds like you played well, good on yer it is good for the Championship when Championship clubs give SL teams a good game. We all know Fev are the benchmark in this league, we are playing catch up but Rome wasnt built in a day as they say, I also wonder how long thsi Fev team will keep at its peak?
Did you think the crowd was a big as you expected?
I thought you would have got more but it was on Friday night and on Sky.

Must admit I thought at the game that the crowd would be announced as larger than 4,000 - no way on earth would they have found space for another 2,000+ in the place!

I have a mate who lives in Southport & he's a Wigan season ticket holder who was miffed that there appeared to be plenty of space in the visitors section of the crowd, yet he was only permitted a single ticket & because he doesn't drive & the logistics of getting from his workplace at teatime then back home after the match without his usual travel buddy he couldn't make the trip over. I suppose he was being critical of his own club in that respect though.

In fairness Wigan have more than 10,000 season ticket holders so I think it would be fair enough to restrict it initially with an allocation of only 1,500 to play with!

Valid points RFF but you will see that I said "If"
However I truly believe the Sheff game and the Swinton games were direct results of what
What was happening in the CC.
I think we may struggle but that won't stop me tub thumping.
